What TOP Digital & Tech talent is looking for, right now ...

What is the top talent in digital, tech and data looking for in their next role? Speaking with hundreds

of candidates a week, there is some consistency in what they are looking for to make a move to a

new opportunity.

It’s no secret that the way people approach their job search has changed (and for the better) with

job boards almost redundant – people who are doing the hiring need to be much more proactive in

their approach and headhunting is no longer reserved for the c-suite.

Here’s what we are hearing consistently from the best.

And no it's not magic ...

They want:

- True flexibility: hybrid will be THE word of the 2020’s. It’s fair that not all businesses can

embrace WFH but it’s difficult to justify in the digital space a business that are 100% office

based.

- Competitive salaries: Cost of living, rising housing costs both to buy and rent – the list goes on.

Life is more expensive than what it was 5 years ago. Salaries have increased a LOT and we see

people with 3-4 year of experience with expectations over $100k.

- A piece of the pie: start ups and scale ups have a unique position of offering equity and skin in

the game, at all levels of the business.

- Innovation and Technology: in the digital and tech space especially, but across the board people

want to work on the best technology and for an organisation that fosters innovation. Think

everything from the collaboration tools you use to the tech that drives your business.

- Career Progression: the most common answer to the “why are you looking” question is

PROGRESSION – “I just can’t see my next role where I am”. People want to join an organisation

where their career development is taken seriously and where others have successfully moved

up and around the business.- Consultative type roles: Strategists have moved outside of the Big 4 and the traditional consulting houses and high on the wish list for digital marketers. They want to be more involved

in developing strategy and implementing it.
