10 Top Notch Executive Communicators:
??Understand the power of Aristotelian / Rhetorical Theory. They can apply it.
??Tell sticky, powerful stories that resonate. That people remember.
??Command an air of Executive Presence and Gravitas - it's noticeable.
??Know how to "scientize the humans in their audiences" whilst "humanizing their science." They are good scientific storytellers. This is hard.

??Can be vulnerable without being overly so. Are humble.
?? Drive decision, influence and alignment in a room that is sunk in uncertainty.

??Run excellent calls and meetings no matter what or when or who is there.
??Know the power of words. They are selective, choose them based on the audience, and prioritize clarity of the message over impressing others with jargon.

5 个月Ah, yes, I saw that. I just didn't engage at the moment. But while I am here again, and in the interest of your post, you offer 10 positive examples. I am dense and may not fully understand them since I do not know who Aristotle was or the theory of rhetoric. It would be good to offer 10 contra-examples to also show what is not a top notch communication technique. E.g. Top notch executive communicators tell sticky, powerful stories that resonate and people remember. Poor executive communicators offer edicts and are are not concerned with having their message retained or affect change. FWIW.

6 个月Cindy Skalicky ??Great list!. I would add that a great communicator is also a great listening, the part of communication don't pay enough attention to. They listen to learn and understand, so ask a lot of "how" and "what" questions.

6 个月This is a fantastic list that really captures the essence of what separates the great communicators from the good ones Cindy Skalicky ??. I would add "empathy" to the list—great leaders are adept at understanding and reflecting the emotions of their audience, which enhances connection and communication effectiveness.
