We are in the final few months of 2022, and what a year it has been! At Cariad, we are forward thinkers and are already thinking of 2023.

To stay relevant to your target audience, it is really important to keep up with current trends. We have five top trends that we think will really shape 2023.

.Ecommerce

There was rapid growth in ecommerce in 2020, mainly due to Covid, and it's not stopping anytime soon. As ecommerce rises so will the competition between online retail brands. Things that we think will become extremely popular are hybrid shopping, personalisation, social commerce and live shopping.

.Metaverse and gaming

Most people are used to 'meeting' their audience when reaching younger generations - this is known as the metaverse. It is a catch-all term to define a virtual space where people meet, play, socialise and shop. Good metaverse and gaming content will undoubtedly attract marketers' attention in 2023. Brands will be looking for actionable advice on how to enter the metaverse/hone their metaverse strategies, as well as the marketing opportunities within these virtual worlds.

Google has postponed the end of third-party cookies on Chrome until 2024. In 2023, be prepared to fill the cookie future - content that helps them do this will reign supreme. Another thing which will be super important is to be on top of your data, and dig deep when you analyse. Above all, make sure your content is engaging as this will help you get stronger analytics and understand what your audience likes.

.Audio

2022 has seen a massive rise in audio, especially the rise of podcasts. This should come as no surprise. Something to think about is advertising on podcasts. Brands are not only using in-game advertising for visual ads, they're looking to audio ads too. And how could we not mention TikTok - songs have become international this year just from the app.

.Influencer marketing

Influencers have been hugely popular this year... but what are they? They are people who use content to build and maintain highly relevant and engaged audiences. This helps enormously with brand awareness. A major thing this year has been influencers and live shopping - brands will be looking more closely at thought leadership next year.
