What tools do Indian Startups use?
Throughout recent years, companies have gradually begun relying on different tools to grow their company's operations. These tools have become an integral part of various industries - from BFSI to healthcare to e-commerce - enabling businesses to streamline processes, improve efficiencies and deliver superior client experiences.
As a startup, the biggest advantage we have is agility and passion compared to the big boys but SaaS tools help - a lot. This post will provide insight into some of the tools/services that are used by some of the best startups in the country.
Here's what we found while digging into data
Besides the obvious advertising and marketing behemoths - Google and Facebook you would think that most Indian founders would not readily pay for SaaS; our data however disagreed - LinkedIn turned out to be more common than Google Ads or Facebook with startups using it for a variety of different reasons from upgrading to premium, post job openings and reaching out to potential customers (B2B). LinkedIn actually wins the award for most commonly used service amongst all recurring services.
The beauty about SaaS has always been low fixed costs and the ability to switch/cancel with less than a month’s notice. We are highlighting some of the most commonly used tools according to their purpose.
- Error Monitoring - Sentry
- Ticketing software - Freshworks
- Finance and accounting - Uneven split between Zoho and QuickBooks
- Freelancer website - Upwork
- Cloud telephony - Neck and neck between Exotel and Knowlarity
We've also seen a lot of other interesting resources beginning to get used: everything from Slack, STRIP, Apptweak, BitriseIO, Easycron, Explara, MailChimp ...This goes on and on to a long tail of industry-specific operating instruments

4 年Saas tools have primarily been utilized by startups from the Western Hemisphere. As Ankit Kamra illustrated in this analysis, Indian startups are actually avid users of Saas tools as well. I find it very interesting to see what Saas tools are favored by various industries ????
