What a time to be in tech!

What a time to be in tech!

Y'alI, I'm having sooo much fun lately! As you may have noticed, I've been working on goose, an AI agent and I honestly wake up every day so excited to play with it.

For those unfamiliar with AI agents, I wrote a straightforward 101 post to catch you up.

What's unique about goose is that it's:

  • open source - so you can use it for free and even contribute to the project to enable your user case
  • extensible - you can use your preferred LLM and connect it to any of the 1100+ external APIs (known as MCP servers) available
  • local - goose runs on your computer via a desktop app and/or CLI

With all of the available extensions, I feel like a kid in the candy store!

My DevRel team let me join in on the fun and create a few short videos ?? Check them out to get an idea for some "goose cases"... get it? ha!

GitHub Goodies ??

Shoutout to GitHub who has shown me mad love this month ??

My status as a GitHub Star was renewed! ?? GitHub Stars are people recognized by GitHub who inspire, educate, and shape communities. There's only 69 of us, so I don't take the honor lightly.

GitHub also invited me to their Open Source Fridays livestream where I did a cool demo showing goose submitting a PR on my behalf!

And I even won in the cute GitHub Valentine's Day Contest and got a technical preview of GitHub Spark, an AI-powered app platform that allows you to create, use, and share personalized micro apps ("sparks"). You can check it out too! Sign up for a tech preview.

#TechGirlWorldTour: My Upcoming Events

Catch me at an upcoming conference!

  • All Things Open AI, March 17-18, Durham, NC, USA. All Things Open is one of my favorite conferences mainly because of the super friendly vibes and the focus on what's new in open source. This smaller event is focused on AI in open source which is music to my ears. I won't be speaking at this one but will be in attendance. This is one of the more affordable conferences out there, so if you've been wanting to learn about AI, this is a great opportunity to do so.
  • ?? Pomerium Livestream, March 21, Virtual. Want to learn more about Goose? Tune in to this livestream.
  • Selenium & Appium Conference, March 26-28, Valencia, Spain. I'm excited to take the stage at this year's conference where I'll give a keynote titled "Air Fryers, Automation, and AI" - which is sure to be a treat.
  • dotJS, April 3, Paris, France. I'm heading to the City of Light to speak at "the world's sharpest JavaScript conference". They have an amazing lineup including Sarah Drasner and Wes Bos. So I'll definitely need to bring my A game!
  • ?? Google I/O, May 20-21, Mountain View, CA. I'll be attending in person this year. Thankful for the invitation! Can't wait to see what they are cooking up.
  • ?? Frontend Nation, June 3-5, Virtual. I'm returning to the largest free frontend conference online!
  • RenderATL, June 11-13, Atlanta. This is the coolest software conference around! While I'm not speaking this year, I wouldn't miss it.
  • MoT Athens, June 26, Athens, Greece. This summer I'll be speaking in Athens for Ministry of Testing's big annual meetup! This is a free community event so if you're in the area, you should definitely attend.
  • WeAreDevelopers World Congress, July 9-11, Berlin, Germany. I'm rejoining the congress this summer! This event is massive and covers a wide array of software topics.

Til next time,

Angie

Hi Angie. I was installing goose on my Mac but after the prompt for API key and API Host I got a message that Rate Limit was exceeded. Does this mean that goose can be used only if you have a paid Open API account?
