What a time to join a new business!!

3 months into my new role at Travis Perkins plc and what have I found?

I have found a business first and foremost with a huge heart, a place where colleagues take care of each other and one where when I ask what they love about the culture - "family" is almost everyone's first word. In a business of around 28,000 colleagues, this is pretty exceptional!

I have also found a business which is hugely resilient, a business which has faced the challenges of the last 5 months with energy, humility, purpose and a passion to do the right thing - by colleagues and customers. And in amongst the challenges my colleagues have also seen significant opportunity, both in the way we do business and the way we work - seizing those opportunities with agility, moving quickly, making decisions quickly and making the impossible happen - literally overnight.

So, as many people have said to me, "what a time to join a new business". True, crazy times, strange on-boarding, not how I would have planned it etc. etc. BUT what a time to join a new business!! To see it dealing with the impossible, facing tough decisions with responsibility and care, taking on completely unimaginable challenges, working productively in completely untested ways - I feel fortunate to have seen my new colleagues embrace the challenges and the opportunities, see the very special culture alive and kicking in taking care of each other, and build the belief that together we can tackle anything that comes our way.

Really excited to see what the next 3 months bring and looking forward to playing my small part to support the next stage in the future of this great business .
