What Is Technical Content Writing? (part 1)

The technical word itself can make a writer understand what it means, so when I did a bit of research about what technical content writing is, It showed me many definitions which I already know. However, it showed that technical content writing and technical writing are different. In my Types of content writing in detail blog, I wrote types of technical content writing, they all are correct, but there are some other additions too. But they are divided into partitions. I am not editing it, but I will tell you here.?

There is a difference between technical content writing and technical writing. The first thing all content writers do is write blogs and articles. So, in technical content writing, there are blogs, too, but they write news on the latest tech trends, such as new phones, games, laptops, PCs, TVs, etc. They also write product reviews, guides or how-to guides and versus(e.g. Twitter vs Instagram threads). So these are the main things a technical content writer does.?

First, let's see the difference between technical content writing and technical writing and its types.?

Technical Content Writing - As I also started as a technical content writer, I first want to explain this topic. As I said above, a technical content writer writes about the latest and newly launched technical product or its review. They have to stay up-to-date with trends and always have to write about them. They have to search for newly launched products, research about them on other sites, take and understand them and then write about them. As a technical writer, I do that. You should always see famous sites that upload tech content on a day-to-day basis. I will add some sites that I like and ask for help writing technical content.?

The technical content writer also writes about technologies like Java, Python, etc. In short, their main focus is to write about technology. I started with writing about technology products but then came to know that it is also about writing about programming languages.

For e.g., the current trend is Instagram threads, so you should keep searching for things about threads and mention Twitter with them. It helps increase traffic because of the keyword Twitter (you might know or not know). Now, let's look at the types of technical content writing and details.

  • Blog articles?
  • Website pages?
  • Ebooks?
  • White papers?
  • Press releases and newsletters
  • Social media texts
  • Documentation
  • Case studies

Blog Articles - Every writer knows what blog writing is, and I also explained it earlier. However, every blog has the same pattern: introduction, middle part(with points and sub-points with detailed explanations), and conclusion.?

I will explain that product reviews, guides or how-to guides and versus(e.g. Twitter vs Instagram threads) are also written in blogs and in news or press releases.

Product Review - The product word itself is understandable. It means writing a review of a recently launched product and you’ve used it. You can also write product reviews by taking content from other sites if you haven't used the product. Product reviews are written of newly launched TVs, Mobile phones, computers or laptops, and any other electrical kitchen-based or technical-related items. Product reviews help other people and customers to give an idea about the product and also a reminder of whether they should buy it or not. There are many product reviews writing sites. They write product reviews. I take ideas for writing from them and then write in my language. They don't only write product reviews. They also write many other stuff for readers. For detailed ideas (https://www.techradar.com/), visit this site and click on more; you will see many things. You can also read them to get an idea of what you have to write. They have posted many kinds of things. I take much of my content from there and many other sites. But they write short content.?

On my company site (https://www.gadgetany.com/news/), you can also check different articles like how-tos versus, but we haven't created parts like the previous one. So it can be difficult for you.

Guides and How-To-Guides - Guides and how-to guides are explainer blogs or news which are written for readers to understand products. Guides and how-to guides are kind of similar. How-to guides are written if the reader is stuck somewhere while using tech things and other things. They search for it with questions like how-to, what-to-do, why etc. We write how-to guides a lot because it brings much traffic. Readers often ask questions like how to connect my phone to the TV or how to fix my iPhone, etc. So if you have written this kind of content, blog or news, your content can definitely rank.

Versus - Versus words also explain what they mean. This means we can compare two products and let readers know their details. So if they are going to buy, they can read our blog or news to check which one is better for them to buy. As a writer, we can compare TVs, mobile phones, hard disks, and many other tech products. Versus and how-to guides are almost the same. In both, we have to write detailed explanations and everything we know about the product. So, it can also be considered an article, according to my guess.?

This is how-to, where we write detailed descriptions of how to solve problems. You might know Bing AI. It is software like chatgpt and the same as Google Bard. They are mostly compared with each other in versus. I am giving you a link, but you can also search for it yourself.?

https://www.gadgetany.com/news/chatgpt-vs-bing-chat-vs-google-bard-which-one-you-should-use/

Searching by yourself can help you understand and explore how to search for things. Because, on the job, they ask you to search for content by yourself.?

They ask you if you know those things.?

  • Search content by yourself.?
  • Research from other sites
  • Create content, title, and meta descriptions by yourself.?
  • How you search content, like how you stay updated with current trends.?

You have to answer them all confidently to go ahead with the interview. They also ask many other related questions. I will keep on telling you and giving tips like this so you can get confident. Sorry if you don't like it.?

Note - Stay tuned for other parts because I have already written 1000 words, so I will not make it too long and will explain other things in other blogs. I will try to cover website pages and e-books in that chapter, and if it doesn't get big, I will write about the other one, too. Tell me if you don't understand anything or if I am wrong somewhere because I love to take and get help.?

Many other sites write about versus, how-to guides, reviews and many more things. Do message me personally and comment below. I can give you some sites, but I can't add sites here. You can also message me. I don’t want fresher and beginner writers to suffer like I did. So, I am available anytime for queries and to cover my mistakes. Let’s learn together.?

Thankyou for reading!!
