What is Tech Sales?

Tech sales is the selling of technological products to businesses/customers. Tech sales is sometimes called “software sales” but it’s not limited to the selling of software. As a Techsales person, what you sell depends on the products/services your company offers.?

What do Tech Salespeople do?

As a salesperson in Tech, your major focus is driving revenue to the company by selling your company’s product to the right buyers/companies. It’s not as scary as it sounds, but it requires grit & in return, it’s highly rewarding.

Some tasks Tech Sales people do are:

  • Prospecting (researching potential buyers)
  • Lead generation (identifying potential buyers)
  • Outbound reach (proactively contacting the leads)
  • Inbound sales (selling to potential buyers that reach out to the company)
  • Meetings, Meetings, Meetings!
  • Negotiation?
  • Closing deals

  • In-depth knowledge of the product you sell
  • Ability to build relationships
  • Active listening
  • Curiosity & continuous learning
