What the Tech is Happening? Whelp, We're Gonna Find Out!
Julie Stotlar-Towner
CEO of leading Cloud IT and Telecommunications Firm, Small Business Advocate, NextGen Supporter, Relentless Entrepreneur and Developer of Leaders.
Welcome to What the Tech is Happening?—where I, Julie Towner, pull back the curtain on what Towner Communications actually does. And trust me, it’s way more than "doing phones." This is your hopefully easy-to-understand, explain-it-to-my-like-I'm-5 guide to the ins and outs of what business technology is, and what is awesome, and what kinda sucks. Consider it the only witty, and completely unfiltered guide to the surprising, game-changing, and downright cool ways Towner make businesses better.
I'm diving into everything from saving IT disasters to turning telecom nightmares into dream solutions—because your phones shouldn't be why you're freaking out? If you’ve ever wondered how we “take the SH out of your IT” or “the HELL outta Hello,” stick around. You’re in for a ride. BUCKLE UP BUTTERCUP LET'S GO!
Nine years into leading Towner, it’s dawned on me: most people out there in my sphere either have zero idea of what Towner does (contrary to popular belief, I do NOT own a marketing firm, y’all. Although I see where you could draw that conclusion). If you DO know that Towner Communications "does phones" (high five, you're the true hero), but you probably have no clue that you’ve barely put a teeny tiny scratch on our IT surface.
Yes, our offerings are super sexy not nerdy at all—from telecom solutions to emergency notifications, structured cabling, paging, and even security cameras. We’re the people businesses call when they want to keep the "SH out of their IT," and we’ve been "Taking the HELL outta Hello" for a super long time now (see our catchy taglines...maybe marketing was my calling).
Anyway, it’s for all these reasons that I’ve decided to finally give you a full-frontal look under the Towner Hood with a year-long LinkedIn series: What the Tech is Happening? or, as I’ll be calling it behind the scenes, "What the Fudge Does Towner Do?" Each week, I’ll share the nerdy, surprising, really freaking cool, and downright game-changing ways Team Towner helps businesses thrive.

Also, yes, we are a hometown company, but we don’t just serve KC. We have solutions in every state, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, I think maybe Germany, and someone told me once the UK. We have one phone deployed in a guy’s mom’s basement (weird), AND full-scale high-security solutions for government agencies with over a thousand seats.
So, I promise this series will NOT be about boring sales pitches—just real stories, practical tips, and a dash of very Julie humor. I’ll take you on a journey of what it’s been like to leap from a career in apparel manufacturing to being CEO of an IT/Telecom company. Not shockingly, sometimes it hasn’t been graceful, but I’ve done everything in my power to make something everyone needs but no one really wants, fun, exciting, attention-grabbing, and super not stiff, stuffy, or boring.

Executive | Leadership | COO | Advisor | Over the past 10+ years CEOs of SMB companies hired me to scale, grow, and optimize their companies from $5M to $30M and increasing profitability by 10-20%.
2 个月I have spent a large part of my career helping CEOs of SMB's scale and optimize their companies. The majority of these companies were what I would call "mature" from the perspective on revenues and profitability but the business had "plateau'ed." One of the biggest challenges those companies faced when thinking of scaling and growing was how to leverage technology to enable them to do that faster. Additionally, having the right plan and approach to deploying and utilizing the right technology was also a large gap. I think a future newsletter speaking to CEOs about how to build a plan for integrating or implementing new technology would be useful. matt-heelan.com
