Greetings Fellow Warriors!
In Part 1 we covered the introduction to a Warrior Mindset. ?Today we’re going to take a look at what it takes to be a Warrior.
The Aim – What It Takes to Be a Warrior
You know, when we think about warriors, the first things that probably come to mind are images of battle-hardened soldiers, maybe even scenes from movies…someone fearless, charging into the unknown. But being a modern warrior isn’t about swinging swords or dodging arrows. It’s about something deeper, something more primal. It’s a way of living that demands courage, self-discipline, and an unwavering commitment to your values, even when it feels impossible.
For the longest time, I wasn’t that person. I remember when I couldn’t even handle a bad day at work without throwing myself into a full-blown pity party. I’d sulk, maybe even snap at the people around me…turning small inconveniences into mountain-sized problems. That was me at my weakest. And let me tell you, that’s not a warrior mindset.
The Warrior’s Code: How to Be Strong When It Counts
The true warrior is defined not by the battles they fight, but by the battles they choose to fight…and how they face them. Think about it: How often do we get overwhelmed by things that aren’t worth our energy? Small setbacks, rude comments, or even just the daily grind can pull us off track if we let them.
For me, one of the biggest lessons I learned was recognizing when I wasn’t acting like a warrior. It sounds funny now, but I used to lose my cool over things like running late to a meeting. I’d stress, get frustrated, and by the time I arrived, I’d already lost the mental game. I let my emotions run the show. But a true warrior knows how to master their emotions…they stay calm in the storm.
If there’s one thing I’ve realized, it’s that life’s real battles aren’t the big, dramatic moments. Nope, it’s the daily grind that tests you. It’s when your patience is running thin, when your goals feel out of reach, and when life keeps throwing obstacles in your path. It’s in those moments that the warrior mindset kicks in.
Times You Weren’t a Warrior (And How to Change That)
We’ve all been there…those times when we acted out of fear, frustration, or just plain laziness. I’m talking about the mornings you hit snooze a few too many times or that time you let a tiny inconvenience ruin your whole day. Yeah, those moments when you weren’t a warrior.
I’ve got one of those stories. It was one of those “bad day” scenarios, you know? Nothing was going right. I woke up late, spilled coffee all over myself, and then sat in traffic for what felt like hours. By the time I got to work, I was fuming. One of my coworkers asked a simple question, and I snapped. It wasn’t pretty. And that’s the thing…I let small, insignificant things push me over the edge. I wasn’t living like a warrior; I was living like a victim.
So, how do you change that? How do you stop letting life’s little frustrations control you? The first step is recognizing when you’re slipping. I started catching myself in those moments…those times when I’d feel the stress building, and I’d pause. I’d remind myself that these small setbacks don’t define me. What defines me is how I choose to react. That’s the warrior mindset in action.

The Core Principles of a Warrior
Here’s the truth: being a warrior in today’s world means living by a code. It means standing for something greater than yourself, even when it’s hard. It’s easy to talk about courage and strength when things are going well, but the real test comes when life doesn’t go your way. So, what does it take to be a warrior?
Here’s what I’ve learned:
Let’s not sugarcoat it: this kind of mindset takes time to develop. But every time you resist the urge to snap or give in to frustration, you’re training yourself. You’re building that mental muscle, just like you would in the gym. And yeah, some days will be harder than others. But those are the days when it matters most.
My Turning Point: Building Mental Toughness
I remember the exact moment when I realized I needed to toughen up…not physically, but mentally. I was in the middle of a tough project at work, one that had a lot riding on it. The pressure was mounting, and every little setback felt like a punch to the gut. I was on the verge of throwing in the towel when I caught myself. I asked, “Is this how a warrior would handle it?” And honestly, the answer was no. I was letting the situation get the better of me.
That was the turning point. From then on, I started taking a different approach. I stopped complaining and started taking action. Instead of dwelling on what wasn’t working, I focused on solutions. Every challenge became a way to test my mental toughness, to prove to myself that I could handle whatever came my way.
If you want to be a warrior, you’ve got to stop looking for the easy way out. You’ve got to embrace the tough stuff, the stuff that makes you want to quit, and push through anyway. It’s not glamorous, but it’s what sets you apart.
Living By a Warrior’s Code
The thing is, warriors don’t wait for perfect conditions. They don’t wait for the stars to align or for things to feel easy. They act. They stay committed to their goals and values, even when it would be so much simpler to give up or compromise. And that’s where true strength lies…not in winning every battle, but in showing up, day after day, ready to fight.
Here’s the bottom line: Being a warrior is a choice. It’s choosing to stand firm in your values, no matter how tough things get. It’s deciding to push yourself, even when you’d rather take the easy route. And most importantly, it’s about living with integrity, with the kind of strength that comes from within.
Are you ready to take that step?
To stop letting life’s small inconveniences derail you and start living like a warrior? If you are, then know this: It won’t be easy, but it’ll be worth it. Every time you face a challenge, every time you resist the urge to quit, you’ll be building something unshakable. That’s what it takes to be a warrior.
