What it takes to start a movement ... a few Passionate people

It all started with a few passionate people who approached the civic authorities to clear up the debris along the road leading to our city. They reached out to the civic authorities and requested for some affirmative action ... the authorities expressed helplessness ... When both the police and civic authorities failed to act ... there were two choices this group of passionate people had ... go home and relax or work towards a better tomorrow. They decided the latter.

Over the past 10 days I have been part of this interesting journey. I happened to be invited to a whatsapp group by my cousin. The whatsapp group had been formed by the group of passionate people who wanted to see a cleaner city. I happily volunteered to be part of it.

My learning ... it doesn't take a lot of time or money to get a group of people together for a good cause. All it took was the right people ... with the right intentions and a well executed plan.

We started with a meeting. About 25 of us met ... we represented the different condominiums in our city. The meeting was focussed and had clear actionables.

This group of 25 people promised they would reach out to their friends and family ... from a whatsapp group of 30 people ... it took about 36 hours to reach 100 people.

What followed was a Facebook Group called "Green Gurgaon". In under 48 hours the Facebook Group called "Green Gurgaon" grew from 50-60 people to 800+ people.

On May 1 (Sunday) ... we decided to get together... along the roadside where solid debris was being dumped . I wasn't sure how many people would turn up ... I was pleasantly surprised to see more than 300 people turn up and about 60 school children.

This is just the beginning ... let's see what else is possible?

Watch the passionate gentleman who started it all ... All for a good cause :). View the video on Yooth (you'd have to request an invite).

Where are you Neeraj...yr no.
