What will it take for you to follow your dream?

I came across this question on Instagram the other day and it got me thinking about how many opportunities I have missed because of self-doubt, and I know I am not the only one. Self-doubt has killed more dreams than “bad luck”.
My answer to this question is simply -confidence and passion. These two factors are what set apart the winners from the losers. Do something that you really love, and you will do it better than everyone else because of the passion you have it.
I experienced the push passion can give an individual today, while I was doing an on-page audit of a website with friends, I found myself beaming with pure excitement as we went through the elements of an on-page audit and finding the gaps in a web page. Seeing everything coming together and the excitement it gave me, further solidified that I made the right choice for a career, and I am on the path of achieving my dreams.
“Confidence” is a tricky one. Some people believe that you are either simply born confident, or you are not. But I disagree. Confidence, I believe, is like a muscle, the more you train it, the more it grows. Baby steps towards growth can improve confidence, you just need to take the first step. Doubting your ability to work out? Start with baby steps, do body weight and work yourself up to weight training. I guarantee that after your first 5 kg your confidence will increase to go for 10 and 20. Doubting your ability to speak in public? Just take the first step and start conversations with new people. I guarantee that your confidence will increase and in no time, you will be at some stage talking to 100 people Just take that first step that you fear.

The key to being confident is to get out of your comfort zone. That is what set successful people apart from everyone else. They took the first step in the path that they fear, a path of uncertainty and the unknown, leaving behind that comfy corner that they have occupied for longer than is needed. The path was not easy. They could see the light at the end of the tunnel but the path to that light was unknown and mysterious, the decided with fear to leave their comfy but old bed and venture towards that light. And you know what? ?In the end it was all worth it. And it can be the same for you.

And you? What will it take for you to follow your dream?

1 年Profound Kawathar. I deeply resonate with the article as I missed quite a number of opportunities due to self doubt. I strongly believe that those days are now far behind me. Keep up the spirit, & I cant wait to see what the future holds for us who dare to believe.
