What will it take to change the broken system?

What will it take to change the broken system?

This week, we're diving deep into the language of neurodiversity and the power of our shared stories. Big thanks to everyone who’s contributed—your experiences are the heartbeat of our community, guiding us towards a future where every unique mind is celebrated.

Let’s keep the conversation going and the ideas flowing, crafting a world that values every way of thinking.

What will it take to change the broken system?

More adhd assessments and acceptance not just opinion and ignorance, the system is the start of everything

Fellow ADHDer here. I believe it. Low frustration tolerance & impulsivity are a dangerous combo platter.

The way we speak about neurodiversity shapes our future.

#ADHD boasts 22.1 billion views on TikTok,

#Autism 19.6 billion,

#Dyslexia 1.2 billion,

while #Neurodiversity trails with 300 million.

These figures reveal more than popularity; they show how identity and community are crafted in the digital age.

TikTok's pulse beats with the voices of the younger generation, guiding us towards understanding and support. Yet, the broader, inclusive term 'neurodiversity' isn't the main banner they march under.

It's a paradox of inclusion versus self-identification.

The big question remains: Should the evolution of language push towards clinical accuracy or mirror the personal identifiers embraced by communities? ??

What are your thoughts on the impact of these terms in shaping a more inclusive future?

Will we ever get away from the medical labels, or do we even want to?

What age were you?

I didn't have a dyslexia diagnosis until 21 either! As a mature student in University without the required qualifications from school or college.

Barriers are put in place by others.

We need to kick them down!

A commonality that I've found is the drive to go and learn/understand ADHD (or other neurodiversity) comes from parents wanting to support their children. Through the journey of understanding, they find out more about themselves as well.
It's a good starting point for breaking down barriers, as what better reason is there to do so than helping children?

A procrastination buster...

Or at least it is for me and Stoyan Yankov podcast host of the Productivity Mastery Podcast

We chatted in our recent catch up in the UK about the importance of taking time out and shifting the mindset when it gets stuck in a rut.

??♂? Go for a walk, outside if possible or just up and down the stairs to get the blood flowing and energy moving.

??♀? Change the balls your juggling to fruit (change up the task).

?? Create some music, art, poetry, sing... (get creative

This helps break the cycle and shift the mindset to more productive, creative and energised thoughts ;O)

What do you do to change up your environment or work practices when you feel productivity is going through the floor?

Your unique brain-wiring is an asset. Here's why...

Over my career, I've seen individuals excel, innovate, and inspire because of their unique brains and not in spite of them.

So here's my message:

I embraced my AuDHD and now I'm homeless and traveling in my car for 2 years. In a good way! Lol. I decided to document the whole thing and share my struggles. (@rebootexperiment on YouTube) It can be tough at times, but embracing my neurodivergence has helped me.

Well I hope you've enjoyed my weekly roundup and I welcome your comments, thoughts, and insights or you're welcome just to continue quietly reading in the background.

Hope you have a great weekend, wherever you are and whatever you are doing.

See you same time next week :O)
