What is Subpart G ?
Subpart G typically refers to a section within a regulatory framework governing Continuing Airworthiness Management Organizations (CAMOs). In the previous article I explained what is CAMO in basic, now let’s get into more detail. Surpart G is most commonly associated with EASA Part-M, which defines continuing airworthiness requirements for aircraft and components within the European Union. Subpart G outlines the requirements for organizations responsible for managing the continuing airworthiness of aircraft to ensure their safe operation.
Key Features of Subpart G
1. Purpose
Subpart G governs the establishment, approval, and operation of CAMOs. These organizations are responsible for ensuring that aircraft comply with airworthiness standards throughout their lifecycle.
2. Organizational Approval
To operate as a CAMO, an organization must:
? Apply for approval from the relevant aviation authority (e.g., EASA or a national aviation authority).
? Demonstrate compliance with Subpart G requirements, including organizational structure, personnel qualifications, and operational procedures.
3. Responsibilities of CAMOs
CAMOs under Subpart G are tasked with:
? Aircraft Maintenance Programme (AMP): Developing, implementing, and maintaining an AMP tailored to each aircraft.
? Airworthiness Directives (ADs): Ensuring compliance with mandatory ADs issued by authorities.
? Defect Control: Managing defects identified during operations or maintenance.
? Records Management: Keeping detailed records of aircraft maintenance, repairs, and modifications.
? Maintenance Planning: Scheduling and coordinating maintenance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
4. Key Personnel and Roles
Subpart G mandates that CAMOs designate key personnel, such as:
? Accountable Manager: Holds overall responsibility for ensuring the organization meets its obligations.
? Continuing Airworthiness Manager: Oversees airworthiness management activities.
? Quality Manager: Ensures compliance with quality standards and oversees audits of the CAMO’s processes.
5. Quality System
Subpart G requires CAMOs to establish a robust Quality System, including:
? Internal audits to identify deficiencies and ensure compliance.

? Processes for corrective and preventive actions.
? Regular reviews to assess the system’s effectiveness.
6. Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME)
CAMOs must develop and maintain a CAME, a comprehensive document detailing:
? Organizational structure and responsibilities.
? Procedures for managing continuing airworthiness.
? Quality assurance processes.
The CAME must be approved by the aviation authority before the organization can be authorized to operate.
Key Activities of Subpart G CAMOs
? Development and oversight of aircraft maintenance schedules.
? Ensuring aircraft comply with safety regulations.
? Coordination with maintenance organizations (often Subpart F entities) for inspections and repairs.
? Issuance or recommendation for the issuance of Airworthiness Review Certificates (ARCs), depending on authorization.
Relation to Other Subparts
? Subpart F: Covers the approval and operation of maintenance organizations performing physical repairs and maintenance.
? Subpart I: Focuses on the issuance and renewal of Airworthiness Review Certificates (ARCs), often managed by Subpart G organizations.
Approval Process
1. The organization submits an application to the aviation authority.
2. The authority reviews the CAME, organizational setup, and compliance with Subpart G requirements.
3. After audits and inspections, approval is granted if the organization meets all requirements.
Conclusion
Subpart G is essential for ensuring aircraft remain airworthy and comply with safety regulations throughout their operational lives. It provides a framework for organizations to manage maintenance, repairs, and inspections in a structured and regulated manner.

1 个月Thanks for the article. Little addition that the Subpart G CAMO have been discontinued if EASA environment is in consideration. EASA Part CAMO Implementation date was 24 March 2020. Following the implementation of Part CAMO the Part M Subpart G approvals were no longer valid from 24 September 21. Part-CAMO provides requirements for Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (CAMO). Compared with Part-M Subpart G organisation, the main difference is the introduction of SMS principles. Part-CAMO introduces the familiar concept of a Management System, including Safety Management SMS & Compliance Monitoring (The old term Quality System has been discontinued).
