What is Stop. Think. Prevent. ?

What is Stop. Think. Prevent. ?

An idea. An initiative. A collaboration.

A beginning – and, hopefully, an end. An end to pain, suffering, dismemberment, and death.

A simple mantra, an opening salvo, a closing statement. It is what you want it to be. You can use the words to start a presentation, or to summarize one. You can use the steps to create change in your workplace.

Stop. Think. Prevent. is designed to be a short message that can summarize our actions, to put into words our need to plan, to exemplify steps that can be taken to mitigate risk. It’s an open-ended statement, a way of life (and living) that anyone can adopt. Anyone.

The concept is to engage at EVERY level...from employee to employer to Owner. Will there be challenges along the way? Of course.

Perhaps it starts with STOP. (If you don't know, don't go)

And then it takes some time to get through THINK - training initiatives, empowerment, planning, discussion

And then PREVENT - Implementation of control

But at its simplest, STOP reduces the exposure. THINK motivates the action (I don't want to die, etc.). PREVENT encourages safe behaviour, which COULD be as simple as walking away...

Consultants. Trainers. Safety guys and girls. Managers. Estimators. Company Owners. Operators. Laborers. Carpenters. Ironworkers (I won’t list all the trades, but you get the idea – line level workers, where the rubber meets the road, and the ultimate decisions are made – on the ground, and in the air) It’s not a “construction thing”. It’s not a “manufacturing thing”. But it is a safety thing. A quality thing. A production thing.

Another way to look at it?

Stop – To take a look around us – to smell the roses

Think – About our blessings

Prevent – Harm to others and ourselves

Please participate. Share. Give. And take. Take away knowledge, commitment, and motivation. Spread the word.

There is no obligation, except to become a champion. There are many ways to “invest”. It starts with taking action, and can be cost-free if you so choose.

Who’s in so far? Scott. Stu. Chip. Kyle. Jamie. Mike. James. Cal. David. Jack. Melanie. Ray. Karina. Dan. Mike. Michelle. Keith. Jacquie. Gary. Gordy…and you? I started this whole thing...I hope that you will help us finish it!

Because One is Too Many.
