Today, pollution is at an all-time high in our world, and we are to be blamed for it. With the advent of new industries, the production of toxic waste finds its disposal in the river water.?
As a result, it not only affects the amount of clean drinking water but also renders the water useless for any other purposes.?
While it is true that water contamination is no longer something that we can control, we can take small steps to prevent any further river water pollution. When we take these small steps collectively, it accumulates into one big step which can make a difference.?
Be mindful of water pollution while shopping?
Whatever pesticides or cleaners we buy, the prime ingredients of the product always consist of some amount of toxic chemicals. We use it as a cleanser and wash it off as it serves its purpose, but the toxic waste remains mixed in the water. Thus, some amounts of the chemicals endure filtration and stay in the water.?
The least we can do to make a change is opt for a cleaner that is devoid of toxic chemical ingredients. Today, we have come up with a lot of alternatives that serve as competent solvents or cleaners as opposed to hazardous chemicals.?
Don’t keep fat, grease, or oil near the sink?
Oil and water do not mix — it is something that we have been taught from our childhood. Thus, it is wise not to pour the oil grease or fat down the drain. Not only does it contaminate the water, but it can also clog the drain or sewer pipe, making it harder for the water to pass through.?

Try to keep all the fat or grease in a jar and while disposing of the used oil, get rid of the jar itself. That way, it is kept from mixing with any other garbage as well.?
Use cleaners or detergents that are phosphate-free
Phosphate is an element renowned for transforming objects squeaky clean. Though it has this one advantage, there are many more disadvantages that speak against it. We wash our clothes or clean our houses with a cleaner and then rinse it properly.?
Consequently, the water that rinses the toxic element keeps it as a residual element, and when it passes onto the river water, it disrupts aquatic life dramatically.?
Avoid using plastic containers?
Plastic, as known to all of us, is an object that is non-biodegradable, which renders it hazardous for the environment. However, if you have ever been to a waterbody or a beach, you will see the entire area filled with plastic containers. This is a choice a lot of people deliberately make.?
Since it's a deliberate choice, it can willingly be put to an end as well. A lot of charities organize weekly cleanups at the riverside or oceanside that focus on collecting all the garbage and disposing of them consciously. All we have to do is become a part of it or support it in any possible way.
