What is the state of your university?
I watched last night the annual ‘State of the University’ address by the President (VC) of my alma mater in Texas.?The University of North Texas is a large pubic university, now with over 42,000 students. It was upgraded to a Tier 1 Carnegie research institution a few years ago.
The address is a set piece opportunity for the President to review progress publicly and set new strategic objectives for the academic year ahead. Its excellent for accountability of strong leadership, and also, as it’s a state university, as an opportunity to be seen to be addressing / lobbying in relation to public priorities.?
These kinds of events are excellent for understanding comparative trends. I was struck on trends happening here in the UK; particularly the strong central policy focus on affordability, access, employability, job prospects, engagement with FE, private sector involvement etc.
How does this compare to your university?
