What is Starpunk?

I have decided to invent a new sub-genre of science fiction. In is the metaphysical child in the family of Solarpunk and Lunarpunk.

Let me start you off with a few definitions:

Solarpunk is a literary and artistic movement that envisions and works toward actualizing a sustainable future interconnected with nature and community.[3][4] The "solar" represents solar energy as a renewable energy source and an optimistic vision of the future that rejects climate doomerism,[5] while the "punk" refers to the countercultural, post-capitalist, and decolonial enthusiasm for creating such a future.

Lunarpunk, which is still being developed, can be described as a more tentative, lesser-defined aesthetic. It embraces spirituality and utopian futures, referencing witchcraft, futuristic design, nature, renewable energy, and the circle of life. It references the self, rather than the other.

"Solarpunk is to Lunarpunk as science and technology are to occult and spirituality." - JANK, Solarpunk Magazine

So. To me, I see Starpunk as the child almost in the way I would see Lunarpunk as the mother and Solarpunk as the father. It has a purity to it. It is fresh and crisp. It holds new archetypes, new perspectives. It is the child but also the grandparent. It holds the DNA of our ancestors born again in a new way. It is multidimensional.

It is the metaphysical star bridge between a more science-y Solarpunk and a more spiritual Lunarpunk.

I picture a world of gaseous fluidity in where everything exists in this in-between, almost paradoxical state. Where there are countless possibilities. We are once again, the beginner. The emotions are more neutral. There is still emotion, but it is not in the same way us humans think of them. It is more circular. Non-dual.

It is a rainbow of colors and different materials. Poetic speech and multi-sensory foods. Speaking of senses, there are many. We have the senses of all animals plus evolved senses of our own. Inventions sprout from a place of unconditional love.

It is not singular or self involved nor is it community based. It is the collective unconscious exploding and connecting, coming to fruition. It is a state of Emergence.

In my head, I am just starting to conceptually build this world. But, I will leave you with this one question that I am still pondering to avoid ignorance. What are the issues a world like this would deal with?

I am curious to hear your thoughts! Xx
