What software is used by the IT specialists working in our company

Probably, everyone has faced a situation where they have to give up something they are used to. That happened to our specialists as well. It sometimes takes time to get acquainted and get used to the innovation, but this can facilitate the further work processes.

Here are the four main pieces of software we work with: JetBrains Rider; JetBrains DataGrip; MS Visual Studio; MS SQL Server Management Studio.

Our staff highlights these key differences between JetBrains Rider MS Visual Studio:

JetBrains Rider runs much smoother, has more external tools and offers better integration with Git than MS Visual Studio. JetBrains Rider allows you to generate code with the click of a button, makes it easier and partially automates code merging, and the code suggestion system itself is much more modern than MS Visual Studio. Parallel construction of several projects, storage of cash, non-building of those without changes also eases the work process. JetBrains Rider allows you to view "third party" code, which sometimes makes it easier to diagnose problems.

There is also a Local History option that allows you to view the history of files made on your local computer. You can, on ocassion, without signing in to Git, check what you have written. This option allows you to remember or retrieve a certain snippet of code.

There are also scratches that allow you to save pieces of code that you use more often. You can also prepare templates, and these are only a few of the benefits.

The only downside to the main drawback is the use of RAM, which can sometimes be very high.

JetBrains DataGrip VS MS SQL Server Management Studio

DataGrip is the equivalent of MS SQLServer, however DataGrip is much more advanced. The structure of the database that is rendered is better laid out in DataGrip. Easily accessible procedure function code with just a few keystrokes, and everything runs faster and smoother. That was immediately felt when employees started using the DataGrip program.

What did the experience with this software taught us and what are the plans for the future?

The programs we use increased our productivity by about 20%. JetBrains Rider, as we mentioned, runs faster and crashes less. With this software, it is easier to make Git commits, while it also offers faster movement in the code.

Our IT specialists used to use the full MS Visual Studio suite, but now are starting to work with JetBrains solutions. MS software is still used, but for the reasons mentioned above, we are slowly transfering everything completely to JetBrains.
