What!?! A Snow Day.
Tomorrow is a snow day at TeamBonding HQ, a national company based outside of Boston. My son who is a senior in High School is celebrating another day that he does not have to make up at the end of the year. The team here @teambonding is preparing for a work at home day and the facilitators not in the Northeast are preparing for another day working with teams on beaches, parks and in conference centers.
I remember when it used to be so simple and the joy that would come as a child growing up in Sharon, MA, when the whistle blew at dawn announcing to the town that school would be closed for the day. Now, we get a text, a call, an email and of course a posting on Facebook when a snow day is called. As a business owner with employees and their families waiting for my call as we did for the Superintendent, the pressure is on to make the right call for our clients, which in this case is open, but work at home.
Tomorrow we may get 1" or 20," and when you call our office you may hear a dog bark or a child scream but know that our team is on it and we have our phones forwarded, the VPN available so that we can talk to our clients in the states that don't have snow days. Today we shipped everything out and hired someone to shovel us out so we can start all over again on Wednesday.
It is a team effort to plan this once joyous occasion, the snow day. Now, just one thing that can spoil it all, power. Hoping that we do not lose power.

7 年Boston occasionally gets it worse than here in Montreal. Not sure what your yearly total is so far this year, but we're at around 200 cm (78") already ... and that's just under our average annual total of 210 cm!
