The Lesson
Dateline Cabo Pulmo, Baja California
Greetings from Troy,
We spent the day in the ocean exploring reefs with close family friends, we hopped on a boat early in the morning, and on of the missions was to find a giant school of of Big Eyed Jack's...a huge ball of them, likely 5000 fish or more in one shoal.
Why do they travel like this? Their goal is to cast a shadow, a shadow so large that predators from a distance are intimidated.
You could relate this to building a consulting practice. Your goal is to position yourself so well, that you appear like a huge impactful firm. You bring the results a big company could. Meanwhile, you're nimble, boutique and provide significant hands on value for your clients.
Highlighting your past experience with case studies, what you've worked on and the value that your work brought back to a company or client could do just that.
The Mission
Want to know the main reason I'm focusing on helping consultants and experts package and position themselves? They're professionals, they're damn good at what they do. They're smart, and too often, they're too humble. Nothing wrong with a little humility, however if you let it get in the way it can affect pricing, projects and communication.
If we as consultants neglect to see our own value, we accept projects we don't like, and ultimately don't get to spread our wings and build in the direction we want.
When I reflected back to earlier in my advisory career, I really enjoyed helping the consultants, the experts, the agency owners. I really enjoyed helping them get clients and position their brands the right way that helped them attract dream clients. Since I've spent so much time in that space myself, it feels really aligned to continue that path. I didn't want to be another firm just "coaching coaches." that never felt aligned for me.
These professionals like a little extra free time, and they want to control their schedule and choose the clients they work with. They don't want to be forced to accept brutal deals that suck their souls.

The Study
QUOTED: The experience you have when you are “in the zone”. You feel fully focused, creative, and ideas are flowing freely.
This means that every time you are given a task and view it negatively, this mindset is already making it harder for you to complete your work.
Doing work you love is energizing and creates a positive feedback loop that fuels productivity. Your passion for the work energizes you and vice versa, giving you more fuel to put towards success. The trick is figuring out how to make yourself love your work - even the most tedious of tasks.
The Homework
I have so many takeaways I could give you inside this email, and I'm testing out a new format. Take one and run with it. If it moves you forward in a direction that is meaningful, then my work here is complete.
CASE STUDY That case study you’ve likely procrastinated on putting together? From past work you know you’ve done really well on? Put it together, even a rough draft.
GRATITUDE Every single morning, as you're waking think of a handful of things you're grateful for. Repeat this is the evening before bed. Overtime you'll notice more things you're grateful for, therefore bringing you closer and closer towards a flow state and more of a peaceful experience. (Super-woo..)
On your side, Troy Assoignon
P.S. If you're ready to grow you're consulting practice and bring in more clients reply back "growth" and I'll send you over the details on how we can do this together.
