It was a bright hot sunny day with temperature at its peak. Sweats were just pouring down. We just went to switch on the AC, to add on to the raising heat , there was no battery in the AC remote to switch on the AC.
Our mind went blank, somehow we want to switch on the AC. we said ourself get some Idea, but nothing strike in our mind!!!!
An hour later, there comes Lohith our teammate who had knowledge and understanding about Infra-Red blaster. A sign of relief in our eyes,we grabbed a glass of water. He knew how we can use IR blaster app by which we can operate AC and all other electronic devices by using our smartphone. Thanks to Lohith for the wonderful technology he has bought between us.
“We are changing the world with technology”
Back into the good old days, all you needed to enjoy your television was its bundled remote… and the remote for your cable… oh, and the remote for your surround systems. OK, so maybe those weren't the "good old days.” Fast-forward to the present: We can now use a single remote to control our television and cable box.
Gone are the days when people used the mobiles just for communicating with others. The smartphones are getting smarter day after day with many advanced features that increase our productivity. In the modern world, every house has a variety of electronic devices like Television, Set-top box,Home Theater, Air Conditioner, Projector, Fan,etc... And in order to control these devices wirelessly, we generally use a remote control that comes with them.
What if there is a single device that controls all?
Well, that is where the IR Blaster feature comes into place.
Yes! There are a few Android smartphones that come with IR Blaster (infrared supported), which help us to control all the electronic devices, just like the remote controller. In order to use IR Blaster we need Apps.
Whenever you can’t find your remote or feel like pranking your friends, our IR blaster will be there to help.
IR blaster is an incredible feature to have on a smartphone since it allows you to easily control electronic appliances around you.
Essentially, you can control any home appliance that features a remote straight from your smartphone.
What is IR Blaster?
The infrared Blaster is a component that turns your smartphone into a remote control so that you can use them to control any remote enabled devices such as TVs, Home theater, DVD players, AC etc... That means, if you've an IR Blaster supported Android phone, you can control virtually all electronic devices that come with a remote.
There is a small LED in the IR blaster, which sends infrared light signals to the corresponding device. The signal or the light contains a special IR code or pattern that defines its functions. When the device receives the code, it recognizes the pattern and performs the action. However, the infrared light signal is invisible to the naked eye. Saying so, your Android mobile will act as a universal remote to control all electronic devices that support IR remote.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1: Open the app on your device featuring an IR blaster. Do make sure that your device is connected to the internet during the setup process since the app will download the database of compatible apps as you move forward.
Step 2: Tap the Add remote option and select the category of the device that you would like to add.
Step 3: Once you have selected the appropriate category, select the manufacturer and finally the model of the device.
Step 4: You will then be prompted to point the phone towards the device (AC in my case) and press the on-screen button. Keep the button pressed until your device responds as the app will automatically cycle through the various IR codes. As a form of feedback, your phone will vibrate slightly when it sends a command over the IR blaster. Once the device in question responds, make sure to leave the on-screen button.
Step 5: Press Yes under the ‘Does the device response’ question. You will then again have to point your phone towards the device and press an on-screen button. Release the button once the device responds. Confirm your selection by pressing Yes again.
Step 6: Finally, you can now enter a name for the device and add a shortcut to quickly control it from your home screen. Depending on the remote of the device that you have added, all the options to control it will be displayed on-screen. If not, additional functions will be hidden under the ‘More functions’ option, though, the most common ones will already be available on-screen
What makes the app even better is that it can prioritize the list of remotes added to it depending on your location. So, if you are in your home, the list will automatically arrange itself to list those devices first that are in your home. This happens automatically without any user intervention or any additional input.
