What Should I Post on LinkedIn?

What Should I Post on LinkedIn?

This is the most popular question that I get asked when running my LinkedIn Daily Habit Workshop. So much so that everyone who joins my LinkedIn Daily Habit Workshop get an email every Monday from me with ideas about what to post. I call this email The Weekly Nudge!

LinkedIn is NOT Facebook. PAH! I also hear this all the time too. If you use LinkedIn like you do a real-life Business Network, then it is all about establishing relationships. People buy from people who they know, like, and trust and what better way of people knowing you than sharing content with your network?

If you'd like to receive my email Click Here, but in the meantime here are some extracts from recent Weekly Nudghe's to give you some inspiration. I also add the ideas to my weekly blog on my website too.

Here's some ideas for you.

  • I had a break this week. ?Do you take time off work?? How does this affect you or your business?? Talk about the benefits of taking time off, or maybe special places that you've been.
  • The nights are drawing in. It was nearly dark by 6:30 pm down here last night.? Why not talk about how this is a period that you like/embrace/dislike and talk in a positive way about how it can be turned around to a positive.
  • Did you have the sun yesterday? What a glorious day eh? A bit of unexpected sunshine.? Talk about this and what things you did, or what about unexpected things and what you've done when an opportunity pops up!
  • Energy Prices. We cannot ignore this.? Do you have any tips?? Anything positive?
  • Weekend Sport. Tyson Fury won again!!? And he also apparently pocketed $10 Million.? There has to be plenty to write about here eh?
  • Photos. ?I've talked about scrolling through your photos on your phone to give you inspiration.? I've been purposefully taking photo's to give me something to post in the future.? When you are out and about think about what you see and take a photo for a future post
  • Should you follow your staff on social media?? I found this? Interesting article for you to take ideas from.
  • Working at the weekend? ?I am in my shed at 6:00am on Sunday starting this email.? It fits in with MY family and my early rising habit.? But what do you do at weekends?? Maybe use this as a POLL for your post.
  • Can we mention the C-word yet? It's only 82 until Christmas Day.? What do you do in your business that means this is an important deadline?
  • Long Trousers I don't know about you, but walking the dog yesterday morning with my shorts on, just felt so cold, so today I have my jeans on.? Why not post about your winter wardrobes, how Autumn coming signals different things for your business, or what it means with your planning.? There are so many ideas around this.? In fact, that's the subject of my post today!!
  • Ask for help ?When I needed a business bank account for my new business I write a post that asked which account would be best.? I had loads of comments with different suggestions.? My follow up post, when the bank card came, got over 36,000 views.
  • The Great British Bake Off I think we are at programme 4 of this popular series (the last series saw peaks of 10 million viewers.? So you could talk about the parallels between this and your business, or something happening in your business.? People can relate to baking.? Try to come up with something that will help your clients see how brilliant you are.? Maybe share a photo of your latest creation.
  • Do you know about MTD?? Making Tax Digital?? If you are in the accounting space you are probably fed up with all the date changes.? But it's been in the news again this week.? Why not join the party and put YOUR spin on things.
  • Pronunciations.? Bear with me on this.? This is more a fun post, for say Friday or the weekend if you are so inclined.? Think of some words that get people divided and ask the question.? Here's some ideas.? Is it Scone (gone) or Scone (Flown). Or what about David Bowie?? I'm sure you have a pet one??
  • What are you looking forward to?? It's only 5 days until my anti-compete clause is over, so I am going to be making the most of this.? What have you got to be excited about?
  • No petrol?? How does this affect your business, or what parallels can you show in what you do in your business?? For all of you in the accounting space, I guess it's like Tax return season?
  • On this day in History. ?Just google that phrase, or try this site that I found.? Find something interesting and write about it in a way that shows what you do, or how you feel.? Remember that "People buy from people who they know, like, and trust!"
  • Last night's TV. Vigil ended the other week, which was gripping, do you have gripping times in your business?? Strictly is back on!? We all love a bit of glitz and glamour, but is its popularity waning?

I hope that this has given you some ideas to get creating content. If you have ideas to share, please drop them in here.

I'd be interested in people's thoughts on the ratio of strictly business posts to posts that show us in a wider, more rounded context. For example, I do a lot of cycling but it's not my day job (sadly). But when I have posted bike-related stuff to LinkedIn it's brought me business from like-minded cycling business people. However, I'm also painfully aware that overdoing the light fluffy stuff can be annoying - especially here. So to ??♂? or not to ?? that is the question (as Shakespeare never wrote).

Just finished reading. Some great creative ideas. Of course, relating that back to, 'How do I win business from this?' That is also key, if that is your aim.
