What should I choose? A single Rs.10 note or two Rs.1 coins?

In a village, there were two persons, Ravi and Bhola. Ravi was a rich businessman while Bhola was just a poor ironsmith. But both were famous for their individual qualities. Ravi was famous for his cleverness, wisdom and shrewd nature, while Bhola was notorious for his foolishness, stupidity and gullible traits. Ravi has earned the respect of every single person in the village while Bhola has been a subject of fun, and in fact, he had become an epitome of naive and child-like person.

However, getting overwhelmed with this much respect, Ravi became arrogant, and an egotist, but no one in the village could dare to speak about this quality of him because of his intelligence.

On the other side, Bhola becomes tired of the constant bullying, fun by the villagers and promised to himself that he will gain the respect of all these villagers anyhow.

Every year, a competition of seeking the most intelligent and wisest person used to happen in the village. From past 7-years, Ravi was the constant winners of this competition. Bhola decides to participate in this competition, and win it.

On seeing Bhola, in the competition registration queue, everyone got surprised and starts to mocker him. Even the judges present on the stage were laughing, including Ravi. Ravi thought to himself that it would be shameful for him if a pity person like Bhola would be among the participants in this game. So he decides to not let Bhola participate in this mind-skill competition.

He came on stage and invites Bhola on it. Bhola got surprised for such an overwhelming gesture by Ravi for him. He quickly went to the stage.

Ravi hugged him and asked Bhola why he had come here. Bhola told him, that he wants to win this competition to get rid of the stigma of being a fool he has gained.

Listening to this, the whole crowd present there burst into laughter. Ravi, to prove his foolishness, showed him a single 10-rupee note in his one hand and two coins of one-rupee each in the other, and asked him I am offering you either a single note or two coins what will you choose.

Bhola got petrified and was also baffled. He knew that he should not think of the amount, but of the opportunity that his choice can also make him a wise person.

After careful scrutiny, he spoke, "Why I should choose just a single note, instead I will take 2 coins". Bhola takes 2 coins, and Ravi along with the whole crowd starts laughing on him in the unison. Ravi asked him to leave saying that this is not his place.

Bhola felt disheartened by such gesture of Ravi and thought to himself that he will teach a lesson to him. Ravi won that competition.

But now, Bhola became a subject of fun for the whole village. Every person and the children in the village starts asking him the same question " 2 coins or single note", Bhola always take 2 coins, and the person starts laughing on him. This incident used to happen a lot of times in a single day with Bhola. Even Ravi used to play with Bhola by asking the same question, and Bhola like usual take two coins instead of a single note. Bhola got tired of this but didn't oppose anyone because of a perspicacious idea he had in his mind.

Next year, the competition held again. Persons with intelligence and wisdom were gathered to participate. Ravi was also there having conversations with the other good level competitors.

After a few minutes, Bhola arrived at the venue. He donned nice clothes and perfume and was nowhere looking poor. Ravi disrupted the chat and asked Bhola to come near him. Ravi asked, "Why are you here?". Bhola already knew the consequences of his reply, therefore he replied: "To win this competition". As he expected, Ravi started laughing wickedly and took Bhola to the stage. He shouted "See who has come to win, Mr Bhola!!, and asked him the one-year-old same question "2 coins or single note", Bhola didn't answer instead he took the mic from him.

He thundered "You poor villagers, you have always made fun of me, always made me feel pity of my mind and knowledge, but today I will prove I am more shrewd than anyone present here".

Seeing this much courage and audacity of Bhola everyone got shocked, nobody uttered a single word. Bhola continues, "you asked me a single question every time, a single note or 2 coins and I gave the same reply. You laughed at my foolishness and gave me 2 coins. But now those 2 coins have made me richer a lot. In the past year, I have collected more 2 coins more than 80,000 times and got nearly 2 lakh rupees, making my last year income more than anyone of you."

Silence filled in the air. All the villagers realized that he is right. Due to very less rainfall, there was a very few business in the market so none of them earned a lot, making their income less than even a lakh. But Bhola had nearly 2 lakh rupees simply by getting 2 coins again and again. Even Ravi's last year come was barely 1.5 lakh rupees.

Bhola hugged Ravi, and said, "Thank you, Ravi, for making me a fool, because I have earned more than the cleverest person of the village". Ravi felt embarrassed and was about to leave, but Bhola hold him and in a very uproar voice, he shouted "If I would have chosen a single note instead of 2 coins, no one has offered me again and again, and I wouldn't become rich, Now tell me who is more clever?"

Ravi was speechless. But the villagers have realized their mistake, and they started cheering up Bhola! Bhola! in the crowd, and he was declared the winner of the competition.
