What Should “Free Palestine” Actually Mean? Is it non-sense?

Every day, the #FreePalestine Movement makes a lot of noise on social media. In fact, this nonsensical war cry and global intifada motivations have reached their limit. I'm curious why people don't understand the conflict between Israel and the Palestinians.

You may have already read about the history of this conflict. Pro-Israelis claim that Israelis were the first inhabitants of this land, while pro-Palestinians claim that Palestinians were the indigenous people. The claims for first-inhabitant status will continue until the war is over and Hamas is no longer a threat.

I'm approaching this issue from a different perspective, and I don't want to please?silly minds that lack critical thinking skills. Let me answer to some logical questions here.

?

What is the genetic origin of the Palestinians?

Archaeologic and genetic data support that both Jews and Palestinians came from the ancient Canaanites, who extensively mixed with Egyptians, Mesopotamian, and Anatolian peoples in ancient times.

?

What is the DNA of Palestinians?

Genetic studies reveal that modern Palestinians share genetic continuity with Bronze Age Levantine populations and exhibit similarity with both contemporary Jewish and Arab-speaking Levantine groups.

?

What was the old name of Palestine?

After Herodotus, the term `Palestine' came to be used for the entire region which was formerly known as Canaan. The region is part of the so-called fertile crescent and human habitation can be traced back to before 10, 000 BCE.

?

Who lived in Palestine before Arabs?

Prior to the Muslim conquest of Palestine (635–640), Palaestina Prima had a population of 700 thousand, of which around 100 thousand were Jews and 30 to 80 thousand were Samaritans, with the remainder being Chalcedonian and Miaphysite Christians.

?

Who brought Islam to Palestine?

Islam was first brought to the region of Palestine during the Early Muslim conquests of the 7th century, when the Rashidun Caliphate under the leadership of ?Umar ibn al-Khattāb conquered the Shaam region from the Byzantine Empire. The Muslim army conquered Jerusalem, held by the Byzantine Romans, in November, 636.

Was Palestine a country before Israel?

While the State of Israel was established on 15 May 1948 and admitted to the United Nations, a Palestinian State was not established. The remaining territories of pre-1948 Palestine, the West Bank - including East Jerusalem- and Gaza Strip, were administered from 1948 till 1967 by Jordan and Egypt, respectively.

?

What type of Muslims are Palestinians?

Most Palestinians are Sunni Muslims, but some are Christians of various denominations. A small community of Arab Samaritans, numbering around 400, live mostly near the West Bank town of Nablus, with similar numbers based in Israel, near Tel Aviv.

?

Are all Palestinians being ethnically Arabs?

The comparison with other Mediterranean populations by using neighbor-joining dendrograms and correspondence analyses reveal that Palestinians are genetically very close to Jews and other Middle East populations, including Turks (Anatolians), Lebanese, Egyptians, Armenians, and Iranians. Archaeologic and genetic data support that both Jews and Palestinians came from the ancient Canaanites, who extensively mixed with Egyptians, Mesopotamian, and Anatolian peoples in ancient times.

The relatively close relatedness of both Jews and Palestinians to western Mediterranean populations reflects the continuous circum-Mediterranean cultural and gene flow that have occurred in prehistoric and historic times. This flow overtly contradicts the demic diffusion model of western Mediterranean populations substitution by agriculturalists coming from the Middle East in the Mesolithic-Neolithic transition.

Does Arabs and Jews Share Common Ancestry?

More than 70% of Jewish men and half of the Arab men whose DNA was studied inherited their Y chromosomes from the same paternal ancestors who lived in the region within the last few thousand years.

Moslem Arabs are descended from Christians and Jews who lived in the southern Levant, a region that includes Israel and the Sinai. They were descendants of a core population that lived in the area since prehistoric times. And in a recent study of 1371 men from around the world, geneticist Michael Hammer of the University of Arizona in Tucson found that the Y chromosome in Middle Eastern Arabs was almost indistinguishable from that of Jews.

Does Arabs and Jews Share Common Ancestry (Based on Bible)?

According to the biblical account, Abram (“The Father [or God] Is Exalted”), who is later named Abraham (“The Father of Many Nations”), a native of Ur in Mesopotamia, is called by God (Yahweh) to leave his own country and people and journey to an undesignated land, where he will become the founder of a new nation. He obeys the call unquestioningly and (at 75 years of age) proceeds with his barren wife, Sarai, later named Sarah (“Princess”), his nephew Lot, and other companions to the land of Canaan (between Syria and Egypt).

As per traditions and historical records, Forefather of Israeli tribe is Isaac and Arab Tribes is Ishmael. Both are sons of Abraham.

?

How are Isaac and Ishmael related?

A year later, Ishmael's half-brother Isaac was born to Abraham by his first wife Sarah when she was 90 years old (Genesis 17:17), after she had ceased showing any signs of fertility (Genesis 18:11).

Ishmael, son of Abraham through Hagar, according to the three great Abrahamic religions—Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. After the birth of Isaac, another son of Abraham, through Sarah, Ishmael and his mother were banished to the desert. A minor figure thereafter in the traditions of Judaism and Christianity, Ishmael continued to play a foundational role in Islamic tradition, which holds that he settled in Mecca.

But Ishmael was not a Muslim, he was an Arab. In Israel, Jews often call Arabs “cousin” and that is because, as Arabs, they are their cousins. They are not their cousins by virtue of them being Muslims.

?

Why Iran is supporting Palestine?

Iran is shia muslim majority country. The majority of the Iranian population is formed by the Persians (estimated at between 51% and 65%). The largest other ethno-linguistic groups (accounting for more than 1% of the total population each) are: Azerbaijanis (maximum less than 5%–24%), Kurds (7–10%), Lurs (c. 7%), Mazandaranis and Gilakis (c. 7%), Arabs (2–3%), Balochi (c. 2%) Turkmens (c. 2%).

Iran and Turkey are not Arab countries and their primary languages are Farsi and Turkish respectively. They have a long history of being Anti-Semitic policies.

?

What is the genetic origin of the Persian people?

The Persians, who call themselves the Artaioi, were the direct descendants of the Aratti, an Aryan people from the east of ancient Iran (likely the region of Kurdistan, in the border region of the modern-day Iran and Afghanistan).? Originally a pastoral people who roamed the steppes with their livestock, they were ethnically related to the Bactrians, Medes and Parthians.

They are a mixed tribe of Caucasoid and Central Asians.

Hamas is Sunni Islamic Political Group, Why Shiite Iran supports them?

Iran supports the Palestinians because there are a large number of Palestinians are ethnically Persians. Persians conflict culturally, religiously and genetically with Israeli population. Persian regimes had a history of Anti-Semitic policies. Their ancient rivalry towards Israel is being full-filled with Pro-Hamas funding policies.

?

Why Turkey support Palestine?

Genetic data found that almost all modern Turkic peoples retained at least some shared ancestry associated with "Southern Siberian and Mongolian" (SSM) populations, supporting this region as the "Inner Asian Homeland (IAH) of the pioneer carriers of Turkic languages" which subsequently expanded into Central Asia.

Parental ancestry coefficients for our Turkish samples were found to be 38% European, 35% Middle Eastern, 18% South Asian, and 9% Central Asian. Its evident that Turks are similar to Persians in ethnicity.

Turkey supports the Palestinians because there are a sizable number of Palestinians are ethnically Turkish. Turks conflict culturally and genetically with Israeli population. Turkish regimes had a history of Anti-Semitic policies.

?

Why won’t Arab and Muslim countries help Palestine?

Arab and Muslim countries control the bulk of the world’s known oil reserves; Saudi Arabia and Iraq alone control more than 21 percent of daily oil exports. As participants in a global system of capitalism and imperialism, their success rests on its overall stability and profitability. This is why most of them are aligned with the US, which is the most powerful player on the world stage.

Like any other part of the global ruling class, Arab and Muslim leaders do not believe in ethnic, national or religious solidarity. Their only commitment is to profit and power—especially their own. And if that means allying with the US and Israel, then so be it.

My Key Observations:

  • All Middle East populations are not ethnically Arabs.
  • Arabs and Jews are cousins based on Biblical references and DNA studies.
  • All Palestinians are not ethnically Arabs even though the majority speak Arabic.
  • Israel-Palestinian conflict is more of religious, cultural conflict as well as ethnical one.
  • Iran supports the Hamas because a large number of Palestinians are ethnically Persians.
  • Anti-Semitism could be the cause of hate towards Jewish people due to ethnic, cultural, and religious differences.
  • Arabs are not interested in supporting Palestinians for many reasons.
  • Israel-Palestine conflict must be considered a regional conflict. It's not a global religious problem. Ethnicities except Jews, Arabs, Palestinians don't have valid rights to interfere in this. It's between them.

The article turned out great, thank you so much for the detailed explanation. It's immediately clear that these are not the historical lands of the Palestinians. Hamas are savages and terrorists who have no place in a cultured and highly developed society.

This is not a cultural, ethnic, or religious conflict. It is a colonial conflict. European Jews came and colonized the indigenous population. Had it been Christians or Buddhists or Hindus- Palestinians would have resisted them as well.

Hi Alvin, your article makes interesting reading for the Zionists, but not so much for the Free Palestine movenment. The Palestinians want Freedom from the Occupying Forces of Israel, so that they can live in peace and self determination. Free, Free, Palestine!
