?What are the shapes of masculinities we are currently needing?

?What are the shapes of masculinities we are currently needing?

Dear community

Thank you to all who attended today’s Community Hosted Session on Masculinidades, hosted by Teoría U en espa?ol Presencing Institute in partnership with ECCO . We had a powerful session exploring the masculinity needed in the world now and the transformation of the inner place from which we operate on a daily basis.?

We had some key highlights from the session that we would like to share with you.

  1. Exploration of feminine and masculine principles inside Theory U:?

  • We are both male and female. I once heard Otto say “Sometimes all we know is which direction to face and where to put our foot down for the next step.” Knowing which direction to face is feminine principle; taking that step is masculine principle. And moving forward is always possible. ~ Arawana Hayashi?

2. The panel discussion moderated by Viviana Galdames with panelists Lyann Cuartas, Felipe Tapias and Claudia Gonzalez had some other Key insights:

  • “Violence is not the only feature in? Masculinities, and this is not the only feature that defines masculinities. There are tender and sensitive masculinities…there are individual that are not constructing a version of masculinity or being in the world from hegemonic and hierarchical…The future is in new forms of living and life, in communal forms of being” Lyann Cuartas
  • “Violent masculinity is cultural violence and it happens and occurs towards men themselves…Men do not want to let go of their privilege” Felipe Tapias?
  • “I am a professional and I have even experienced the effect of toxic masculinity specifically in the chores of the house…what are masculinities, femininities, and gender?... I am starting to come to an inner understanding beyond body identifications/associations…we are starting to question our own aspects of what is femininity and masculinity?...It is the moment where the masculine can begin to question itself to give an understanding from what source we are operating from?” Claudia Gonzalez?

3. Awareness Based Collective Theater Molding Masculinities Embodiment activity in which we explored collective masculinity in small groups: Molding “how does masculinity feel and look for us?”?

There is demand. When is this discussion between strength and vulnerability going to end? in the midst of it there is a fear of being attacked.
