What SEO is Today

We’ve all heard “SEO is Dead” – while Search Engine Optimization may look completely different than it did even one year ago, I would rather believe that SEO is not just alive, but it is even thriving.

SEO will die only as soon as search engine dies, so in fact probably never. As long as there are search engines people will figure out how they work in order to get business from them. We can speak about the end of search as we know it, or how content marketing is changing everything, or that the common known SEO will die and we will call the “new” SEO “online marketing” or “web marketing” or something similar sounding. The true is that we will still try to make business out of search engines so SEO will stay alive.

On the other hand, there are many SEO tactics, which for sure can be considered as dead, either because they don’t work anymore, they have never worked, or still work but are in violation of Google’s guidelines.

So the first thing to discus is probably the things not to do with SEO anymore:

? Keyword stuffing and hiding

? Buying mass links

? Duplicating websites on many domains

? Content spinning or even automatic contend

What is SEO now?

SEO is making high quality content easier to find on search engines. ‘Quality content’ means in fact something that helps customers answer questions that lead to purchase or some other business outcome. Google’s algorithm updates during the last period of time were intended to reward good content and punish spam. While you may right now not agree with this but most of Google’s best practices for SEO are really on your side, you just need to learn them.
