We all like football, like English Premier League - may be not all of us - but one of the fundamental skill we can learn from sports is teamwork. Teamwork energizes people to contribute their fair share of effort, enabling a group of different individuals to achieve an objective.
Sports replicate most experiences you find in a typical workplace. For example, We have a team leader, who would be the team captain/coach, and team members who may play different roles, but working on towards the same goal.
When employees work together instead of against each other, workplace conflicts decreases while working relationships improve. This leads to employees working together and supporting one another to finish a certain project or achieve a set goal. Additionally, this gives employees a sense of ownership which may make them hesitant to leave. Recognition from the management will only reinforce this pride of ownership.
Employees who are part of highly functional teams often experience higher morale compared to those in out of order teams. This allows them to feel safe and comfortable with the workplace. When people appreciate their jobs and the people they work with, they tend to stay with the current employer for extended periods of time.
