What is the role of a college degree in the future economy?
Walter Pearson

In this new report, the doubts about the value of a college degree are rejected. The economy by 2031 will be increasingly divided between the business and professional sector and the blue collar and skilled trades sector. In the dominant business and professional sector, jobs will overwhelmingly require the bachelor's degree. "By 2031, 72 percent of all jobs nationally will require postsecondary education and/or training."
The wage advantage of a bachelor's degree will be 75%.
Will AI affect these trends? Yes, absolutely. But the presence of most forms of AI will primarily affect lower-level cognitive functions (think claims in insurance) and may create new jobs that will require higher levels of postsecondary education.
