In the world of business health, KPIs serve as vital signs, guiding us through the twists and turns of performance. But just like in a hospital, the frequency of monitoring depends on the condition of the patient.
?? ICU Mode: When the organization is in critical condition, real-time monitoring is non-negotiable. Just like a patient in the ICU needs constant vigilance, so does the business. Think of SPC charts in shop floors as the ECGs of our operations, keeping us alert to any irregularities.
?? Ward Status: As the organization moves to a regular ward, we can adjust our monitoring frequency. Perhaps hourly or once every few hours suffices, ensuring we catch any potential issues before they escalate.
?? Stabilization Phase: Once the crisis has passed but stability hasn't quite settled in, a daily or weekly check-in might be in order. However, don't forget that some parameters still demand hourly or real-time monitoring, depending on the industry's demands.
?? Preventive Care: And just like how a healthy individual still needs preventive health visits, even a healthy organization shouldn't neglect monitoring. But here, we can adjust the frequency based on our business results and the strength of our processes.
