What the rich want you to believe…so you won’t bother them

The affluent would prefer you not bother them.

(Hey-don't miss my companion video to today's newsletter which you can watch HERE!)

Given their druthers, they wish you’d quit trying to get them to invest or buy whatever it is that you have to offer.

They know they’ve got a great big target printed on their back (I mean they’re rich, right?) so their strategy is to try to make it as difficult and uncomfortable to do business with them as possible.

And it actually works pretty well.

Cause they got you to believe something.

Which ain’t necessarily true.

Which is that you have to already be rich and part of their circle in order to do business with them.

Now the first part of that statement is just false.

I’m rich, and I do a lot of business with people who aren’t as rich as I am.

I asked some of my really rich friends, and they said the same thing.

So that part is just not true.

However, there is some truth to the second part…”you have to be a part of their circle in order to do business with them.”

That’s true in the sense that they usually won’t do business with complete strangers. Trying to pitch your products or services in the first communication is a colossal waste of time and effort.

But let’s spend a moment discussing what “part of their circle” really means.

Because it doesn’t mean what you probably think.

It’s not that you’re all hanging out at the tennis club…the polo fields or sipping top-shelf tequila on someone’s yacht.

Although that would definitely put you in the group, so there’s no harm in trying to get invited.

The reality is that “part of the circle” is far looser.

It’s generally defined as …”Sure I’ve heard of him/her. Doesn’t she/him do…?”

In other words you’re vaguely known.

But guess what?

That’s enough.

If you can establish that small level of intimacy, you’re now in a position where they’ll be receptive to what you have to offer.

If it’s presented in the right way.

How to do that?

That’s one of the things I set out to learn in great detail when I was doing the research for my book The Affluent Marketing Blueprint.

And I cover the specifics of when to pitch…how to pitch…what kills pitches to the wealthy, in chapters 4 and 5 in the book.

You should get it, and if nothing else read those chapters.

They will change your life.
