Austin, Texas is the nation’s newest darling, attracting tech companies, their workers and others searching for good weather and culture. And small businesses are increasingly benefiting from the boom, particularly as live events like the massive South by Southwest conference return.
SXSW is one of the city’s biggest economic events, bringing in $355.9 million in 2019, and its cancellation in 2020 dealt a massive blow to the local shops that rely on it for revenue. LinkedIn News spoke to Blake Thomas and Helen Schafer from Tiny House Coffee Roasters at the start of the pandemic as they were furloughing workers — and we caught up with them again this month.
