What is Remarketing? And Why is it important to Create Remarketing Ads??
Today we're going to learn about a very important part of Digital Marketing, which is Remarketing.
We spend a lot of money time and effort to market our products offline and online. We do traditional marketing and digital marketing, the main objective being is to raise awareness of our products.
We run ads on all the different Platforms in order to obviously get people to our website. One of the most important objectives of digital marketing is that we want to get as many people as possible to our website. The more the people that come to our website, obviously, more sales, we are going to generate. Does everyone who comes to your website?becomes our customer? No.?
So obviously we have a large chunk of website traffic which will leave our website without performing an action on your website which is of value to our business.?
Let's take a simple example of an e-commerce website; the main action we want the visitor to our website is to make a purchase. For a lead generation website, to fill up the lead generation form, for other websites it could be as simple as a view of a key page of the website.?
In short, we want the visitor to perform any action on our website which will make the person become our customer or become our customer in the near future. In other words perform an action on the website which adds value to our business.
If not purchase, then maybe subscribe to our newsletter or add items to the shopping cart, or maybe view some important pages of a website.?
For an e-commerce website, statistics have shown that?
1. 80% of first-time visitors to your online store do not become your customer. That's eighty percent of the traffic that is lost forever. Yes, maybe a small percentage may come back later on and purchase from us.?
2. 70% percent of the products that are added to the shopping cart are never purchased. I'm pretty sure all of you may have shopping carts full of things that you want to buy. Isn't it??But do you end up buying all these products?
?3. If you are selling a product, which is also sold by the other e-commerce websites, a typical buyer will at least go to three different e-commerce websites before deciding from which website he or she wants to buy the product from.?
Very important to note is that when a person comes to our website, that person has already shown some interest in what you are selling. Which is always a very positive sign. The fact that the person even for a few seconds has come to our website proves that he or she wants to see what you are selling. or know more about your brand/company.
Why don't people buy from your website every time they visit our website??
There are various reasons for this:
In this case there are high chances that the person will not become our customer unless they find something really, really interesting or really, really attractive and say, oh wow, I want to buy this.
2. Let's say you want to buy a new mobile. You now start browsing some websites selling mobiles. But even at this stage you are just doing some preliminary research. You don't mind waiting for a few days or few weeks before you make your purchase. So a lot of times, you know that you want to buy something but you are not in a hurry to buy it.?
3. A person may come to our website with the intent to buy. But the person can get easily distracted. Most of us are very lazy and very impatient on the internet. Our attention spans are always already decreasing.?
For instance, suddenly you get a phone call and that's it. You move away from the website.
You are at work, you are suddenly called for some important work and you go to finish that work.?
Maybe you remember an important email to send or some important task to finish.?
By the time you come back, intent is gone.?
4. Sometimes there are broken links on the website, or maybe the payment gateway is not working properly.?
Or you enter your credit card information, and you realize that you have already spent a lot on your credit card so you decide to wait till the next month.?

5. Also if you are selling an expensive product, usually the customer takes some time before they decide to buy the product.?
There are so many reasons why people will leave our website without purchasing our products or performing an action on our website, which is of value to our business.?
As mentioned, we have spent a lot of time, money and effort to get this person to your website. Don't forget if you are running ads, we have done targeting.
We have shown our ads to people who feel we have most likely to buy from us. And those people have come to your website and they have left your website. Without performing the action.?
What we can do is that when these visitors leave our website, we what to start showing our ads to them again, in other words start marketing to them again, hoping that when they start seeing your ads again they will come back to your website and buy from you.?
This concept is called as remarketing, meaning we start marketing to them once again.?
Benefit of Remarketing:
Once the person leaves the website and start seeing your ads on websites, Apps, YouTube videos they visit or on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter etc. they will be constantly be reminded that they had visited this website.
So we are pushing for Brand Recall. From Whom? People who have already visited your website.
By using Dynamic Remarketing we can show in our the ads the exact products the visitors have viewed on our website. Maybe we can offer them a discount code in the ad, maybe tempting the person to come back to the website and purchase from us.??
So we want to make sure that by the from the time the person has come to our website till the time the person has?decided to buy the product that we are selling. We want to make sure that that person does not forget us. Brand awareness. Oh yes I had been to this website. Now today I want to buy this product.
How to Set Up Remarketing??
1. The first step is to start tracking the people visiting our website.
For that Google Ads and Social Media platforms provides us the tracking codes that has to installed on all pages of our website.??
2. Second step is to create Audiences from the visitor data that these tracking codes have collected for us.?
The first Audience that we should always create is "All Website Visitors". This Audience contains all the visitors which have come to our website.?
Now we should create Audiences based on certain pages the visitor has been to or not been to.?
This can help us to find out and separate visitors who may have visited certain products/product categories pages so that we can target them with appropriate ads.?
We can also create Lookalike or Similar Audiences. These are based on the Audiences that we have created.
Google and the Social Media Platforms will find people whose profiles are similar to the profiles of people in the Audience lists. These can give us a valuable source of potential customers who we can target.?
3.The final step to create separate ads targeting these Audiences. Please make sure that you create separate Ad Groups or Campaigns only targeting these Remarketing Audiences. Do not mix them up with the "normal" ads that you are running.?
Remarketing is an integral and an important part of Digital Marketing and by implementing the Remarketing Ads can greatly help in increasing the sales and conversions for our business.?
