What is rel=noopener noreferrer?

What is rel=noopener noreferrer?

I tried to convey in a simple manner.

The?"noopener?and?noreferrer"?attributes are used to:

Avoid the hyperlink’s URL loading in the same tab when the link is clicked.

rel=”noreferrer” attribute will be shown as?Direct Traffic?instead of?Referral traffic.

Let's breakdown it!

Why some sites prefer rel=”noreferrer” tag?

This tag was used by many of the PR and good DA guest blog sites that might refer your site but doesn't wish to let you know that they're the one referring you.

WordPress adds the ‘noreferrer’ tag by default to all outgoing links if you set the link to open in a ‘new tab.’

What is noopener?

Both are same, here there will be no referral information passed on from your page to the destination page

?Both "noopener" and "noreferrer"?is simply an additional security measure that prevents malicious links to gain any benefit or control over the referring site.

What should i use noopener or noreferrer?

It's always advised to use "noopener" if you use target=”_blank”?as displayed below as an security measure.

Only use noreferrer when you aren't interested to let the destination site know who you're.

Only use both these tags in case of external links. Not for internal links.

Well explained ,Madhu Sudanan. Does this also tell the search engines that the site (linking to the external link), doesn't really trust the external site and this linking is called a no-follow backlink?
