What is Refresh Rate?

Refresh rate is one of the important features of any thermal imaging device used to evaluate the output video quality. Measured in Hertz (Hz), it describes the frequency that the image produced by a thermal device is updated/refreshed per second. A higher refresh rate results in smoother, more fluid motion, which is particularly important when tracking moving objects or scanning an area in real-time.

How to Choose the Right Refresh Rate?

When selecting a thermal imager, consider the following factors to determine the appropriate refresh rate for your needs:

1. Applications: Different applications may demand varying refresh rates. In applications where there is movement or rapid changes in temperature, such as in electrical or mechanical inspections, a higher refresh rate is critical to capture and analyze the thermal image accurately.

2. Environmental Conditions: In environments where movement is minimal, a lower refresh rate might be acceptable. In contrast, fast-paced or rapidly changing environments will benefit from a higher refresh rate to ensure accurate and detailed imaging.

3. Budget: Higher refresh rate thermal imagers typically come at a higher cost. It is important to balance the need for a high refresh rate with your budget and choose a model that offers the best value for your specific requirements.
