Most job seekers feel that a resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile should be enough to impress the recruiter. But, that's not all the recruiters are looking for.
A?recent survey?indicated that 90% of employers check social media profiles while recruiting. 79% have, in fact,?rejected candidates?based on their online profiles.
Have you invested enough time and effort in your virtual image? Are they seeing what you want them to see?
Your online image is your first impression. Are there things which you don't want them to see? You might need to do some clearing work.
But also, you need to give them what they want to learn about you.
Here are 6 things recruiters want to learn about you from your online profiles
Evidence that you know your stuff
If you have mentioned unique skills, experience and expertise in your resume, can you back your claims with some proof? Do you have a blog or an online portfolio of your work to brand yourself as an expert? You can show your certificates, the code you have written, designs you have made, photos of the products you have marketed, and conferences you have presented.
You are not bad-mouthing your employers
If you have been using social media as a vent for your anger and frustration, or you have been discussing things which seem to be confidential, the recruiters are going to take notice. They might conclude that you will likely do the same for them if they hire you, and that's not good for their brand.

You and your personality fit into the culture
More and more companies hire people for culture fit and personality than just experience and skills. They want to know about your personality, interests, hobbies, values, passions and goals from what kinds of things you post, what articles you like and share, and what causes or organizations you support.
You are not posting about inappropriate stuff
If recruiters find red flags like racist or sexist remarks, mentions of illegal drugs or alcohol use, or political rants they are likely to eliminate you from contention. Employers are showing little tolerance for such behaviour, especially publicly.
Consistency in your career profile
Recruiters will check whether the information you have shared with them and your resume matches the information you have posted online, especially on your LinkedIn profile. Make sure you are consistent and host about organizations, job titles, dates of employment etc.
Common connections
Recruiters are likely to trust you if you have shared connections with them or other employees in their organization, as it allows them to do a background check about you from someone else. It is all more critical to target certain employers and network and interact with people in those organizations.

2 年Awesome Harshad Bhagwat very well written. I want you to write ?? more than making videos ?? Though these points are to be followed by a recruiter specifically by IT recruiters it is far from reality. Many recruiters post their jobs here but very few cross check, I have observed many candidates have a LinkedIn profile for name sake there is huge difference between their resume and LinkedIn profile this problem is mostly with mid level engineers (3-7yrs). Abusing a company, caste or any political parties LinkedIn is very strict about it if reported it results in permanent deletion of the profile!! In short, a recruiter hiring for a brand yes they are serious about all these points however if it is for a mid level company they really don’t care ??♂?
