What Recruiters Get Wrong with Their LinkedIn Profiles

What Recruiters Get Wrong with Their LinkedIn Profiles

Your main goal as a recruiter is hiring the right talent.

This is key to business growth. But many employed recruiters are missing out on talent & opportunities. Why? They’re not leveraging the power of their LinkedIn profile.

The role of the traditional recruiter is evolving. One ways for you to stay relevant in these turbulent times is to help yourself before helping others.

We've all heard that announcement on every flight. The analogy is key in recruiting. If we don't care for ourselves, we can't serve our candidates. We also can't serve the organizations we represent.

One of the best ways to care for yourself and your career is to start with an optimized LinkedIn profile.

This newsletter was inspired by all the Recruiter profiles I see daily.

When coaching my clients, I see hundreds of recruiter profiles weekly. I help them to network to their next opportunity on LinkedIn. It's also based on the experiences I've had leveling up Recruiter's profiles over the last year.

??? My Hot take. ???

While responsible for hiring talent, many recruiters are lousy job seekers!

Many say, "Wow, I didn't even know that mattered, or I didn't think about that!"

Today, we'll focus on recruiters who are employed.

WHY?

Optimizing your profile builds trust and credibility. Leveled up profiles are more likely to attract top talent. They also help you?do your job more efficiently as a recruiter.

Plus, getting people back to work is what we all want!

The next newsletter will be "Do's & Don'ts" for open to work recruiters! ??

DO'S

?? Verify your account.

?? Use the "Hiring" purple banner!

?? Update and/or audit your skills section.

?? Ask for recommendations from hiring managers & candidates.

?? Leverage the cover image to amplify your brand and recruiting efforts.

?? Be specific about the type of roles or industries you recruit for everywhere on the profile.

?? Craft a headline that is clear and SEO-friendly. It should create trust with your ideal candidates.

?? Co-brand yourself in the "About" section. Tell your story, be clear about who you are, who you want to recruit and how to engage with you.

DON'TS

? Don't ignore the featured section.

? Don't have a blank "About" section.

? Don't have a grey box as your cover image.

? Don't forget to leverage audio notes in the DM's.

? Don't use non-searchable titles in your headline.

? Don't use the company logo in your profile picture.

? Don't focus on only selling the company in your experience section.

? Don't forget to ask for recommendations (especially from candidates).

?What else would YOU like to see on a Recruiter's profile?

How did I miss this?! I only caught it because it was featured in the ERE newsletter. This is exactly correct. So many of our peers don't understand that they need to make their profiles appealing to candidates, too. It's such a simple way to distinguish ourselves from the full-auto InMaulers!

SEO in recruiters' LinkedIn profiles enhances visibility, making it easier for potential candidates and clients to find them. Optimizing profiles with relevant keywords improves their ranking in LinkedIn's search results, increasing the chances of being noticed in a competitive job market.
