What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) ?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that acknowledges and validates an individual's existing skills, knowledge, and experiences acquired through non-formal and informal learning. RPL is a way to recognize and give credit to individuals for the skills and knowledge they have gained outside of traditional educational settings.

The purpose of RPL is to provide individuals with an opportunity to have their skills and knowledge assessed and formally recognized, regardless of how or where they acquired them. It allows individuals to demonstrate their competence in a particular field or industry without having to undergo formal education or training programs.

The RPL process typically involves an assessment by qualified assessors who evaluate the individual's skills and knowledge against specific criteria or standards. This assessment can include interviews, portfolio reviews, practical demonstrations, or written examinations, depending on the nature of the skills being assessed.
