Did you have weird things happen to you this week? Maybe it's just me.?
This past Wednesday I was scheduled to deliver a webinar. Then the internet dropped.
I thought to myself, "I got this." And I took myself to Panera. Got there nice and early, found a table near the plug to keep my laptop charged, and I was ready.
Then Panera's internet dropped.
First thing to pop into my mind was, "Go to the library. They have wifi." I got there and then realized, "I need a private room." They didn't have one.
I called around and found a branch that had 3 private rooms. They warned me, "It's on a first come, first served basis" but said there was a room available.
So I rushed over there because my webinar was now only 30 minutes away.
You guessed it. By the time I got there, no rooms were available.
I kept telling myself, "Don't panic. Either you'll figure this out or you'll cancel the presentation and send a recording." No sweat.
The only thing to do at that point was head back to Panera. With 15 minutes to spare, I was hitting all the red lights, struggling to get around slow drivers...you get the idea.
I'll save you the extended version. I got it and got it done.
Then I picked up my daughter from school and before hearing the end of the story, she exclaimed, "You can't do a webinar from Panera!" to which I replied, "Guess what I just did? I did a webinar from Panera!"
And that was just one of the weird things that happened to me this week...
Sometimes, life happens. It's what you do with it that matters. Remember, you ALWAYS have a choice.

On this week's episode of the Decode Your Burnout Podcast, we tackled drinking as a coping mechanism for stress. My guest Kay Allison unpacks her burnout story while diving into and debunking some common myths about alcohol consumption.

Since we are on the topic of alcohol and coping with stress, I want to share with you Samantha Perkins' TEDx on the topic. She talks about the cultural myths of alcohol being a cure-all for stress. But is it really helping??
Bonus
One of the reasons people burn out is because they try to take care of everybody else around them without regard for their own needs. It can be challenging to say "no."?
If that's something you struggle with, you need a burnout expert...or 6.
On Monday, February 20th, the Burnout Panel (made up of 6 burnout experts) are coming together to share how to say "no" effectively.
