What Really Causes Obesity? (The Surprising Truth)

We all know that obesity is a problem in our society, but what do we really know about it??
It's hard to talk about obesity because it feels like we're pointing fingers. And no one wants to feel guilty. But, the truth is, we can't begin to find solutions until we understand what's really causing obesity.?
This article will explore the different causes of obesity and how they impact our lives. We will also discuss possible solutions and how you can get started on your weight loss journey.
1. Obesity is not simply a result of overeating or lack of exercise.
I know, I know, many people assume that losing weight is so simple. Fewer calories in versus greater calories burned. It sounds so simple. The math seems beguilingly and seductively simple. But if this "simple" math were so simple, then almost 70% of Americans wouldn't be battling obesity or being overweight.
One surprising truth is obesity is a complex interplay of psychology, mindset, biology, energy, spirit, food, and fitness. Although we can achieve short-term goals by adjusting one side of the equation (food & fitness), this approach is not sustainable in the long term.
There is a reason this approach is not sustainable for the long term; it is because until we address the psychology - the mindset, all weight loss victories will remain hollow. We must get to "the why" behind the driver of obesity. Then we must approach and assess the neuroenergetic and biofield connection to understand how food became the coping mechanism.
My digital wellness practice approaches obesity with love, compassion, and the truth. From the moment that you walk into my digital office, I see your struggle for weight loss as an opportunity to puzzle together pieces of a much bigger picture.
While every person's story is unique and different in its own way - there are some commonalities among those who have found success in losing pounds or gaining health; it begins with finding what works best for our needs based on where we're at today. This includes exploring how interconnected all aspects related directly (or indirectly) to one's physical self. Addressing any facets my clients need, from addressing mental wellness with EFT tapping sound therapy hypnosis, building exercise habits, etc., I help individuals piece together these puzzles using the right timing and tools.
2. Many factors can contribute to obesity, including genetics, hormones, metabolism, etc.
We live in a world where we are bombarded with food. All around us, there are billboards, TV commercials, and ads that are trying to sell us food. And, let's be honest, most of this food is not healthy for us. In fact, a lot of it is processed junk food that is high in calories and low in nutrients.
On top of that, we have busy lifestyles that often don't allow for regular meals or time to cook healthy meals. So, we eat out more often or grab quick, unhealthy snacks.
All of these factors can contribute to obesity. And, when you add them all up, it's no wonder that so many Americans are struggling with their weight. Add additional factors such as particular physiological vulnerabilities, including metabolism, hormonal imbalances, and how the brain responds to certain chemical additives. We have a complex cocktail and puzzle to unwrap.
3. Obesity is a complex condition with no easy solutions.
As I mentioned, there is no one "cause" of obesity. And, because of that, there is no one "cure." Obesity is a complex condition that requires a multimodal approach.
That means we must delve into the psychology and mindset before considering the traditional (and conditioned approach of changing your diet, activity level, and lifestyle). Since I'm a believer in providing real solutions to my clients and those in my network, here are a few questions you can ask yourself the next time you are considering giving in to a food binge, emotional eating, or food craving:
You can't go wrong asking yourself these questions. Also, write down your answers - for 14 days. If you take this approach, you will begin to see patterns, and then you can take steps to stop behavior that causes obesity to be an unwelcome guest in your life. You can finally start creating your solutions.
It's time we stopped pretending like obesity is simply a result of personal failings. Yes, overeating and lack of exercise certainly contribute to obesity, but they're not the only ones. And until we understand all the factors contributing to obesity, we can't begin finding real solutions. If you're interested in learning more about this complex condition, please reach out to us or join us on Wednesdays and Saturdays for "The Dr. Grant Show". I would be happy to discuss it with you further. Thank you for reading!
With much love,

2 年I agree with you Dr. Kirsten that obesity is increasing day by day. There was a time when I was also obese and with little changes in my lifestyle and eating habits I lost 20 kg of my weight.
