What questions to ask in a job interview??

Congrats on having an upcoming job interview!?

You probably have been preparing for your job interview, practicing responses to job interview questions you might be asked and memorized what you SHOULD NOT DO during the job interview. Don’t forget that there is one last important section to go over. Every job interview usually ends with the interviewer asking,

"Do you have any questions for us?" So how should you address it??

First and foremost, bear in mind thatevery interview is a two way street, and designed to understand if there’s a suitable match for BOTH sides (much like dating!).? Asking questions during a job interview is important for you, the candidate, to get a better understanding if this company and this particular role are the right fit for you. In addition, questions from the candidate are also a part of the interview, so take advantage of this opportunity to ask relevant questions and to make a good impression.?

Typically, you'll want to ask about the role, the company, and the working conditions, and questions that prove that you have given this job opportunity some thought and that you were paying attention to what the interviewer was saying. Try not to stretch it too much, and stick to 1-3 relevant and insightful questions.

Here are a few examples:

Could you describe a typical day in this role?

Is the typical day full with meetings?

Is most of it done in a team or solo? Getting a glimpse of the schedule and

everyday tasks, will prepare you better mentally and professionally to what is

expected of you.

What do you think are the most important qualities for someone to excel in this role??

Understanding what soft and hard skills the role requires. The answer will clarify what is anticipated of the ideal employee.

What is the typical career path for someone in this role?

This question indicates you’re thinking about the future, and would like to know how you may progress in this position because you’re here for the long run.

To whom will I be reporting or Structure of the team??

A question that helps you to get a better understanding of the company’s hierarchy, and where is your position in all of that.

I read that XYZ... Could you elaborate on that??

In case you’ve read news about the company, or maybe something in their website sparked your interest, ask about that. Being genuinely interested in the business goes a long way.

What are the biggest challenges the company or department is currently facing?

Understand the challenges that you and the company or department will face. It helps you to be more ready when tackling issues and helps you understand the bigger picture.?

Who previously occupied this position??

Lets you know if it is a brand new position within the company, or if you’ll be replacing someone who has left or about to leave. If the second option is the case, you can ask if there will be a handover phase or training. Also, it is a chance to ask why this person left/ is leaving.

What are the next steps in the interview process?

This question is a must! Usually the interviewer will explain the next steps to you, but if not, you should definitely ask. This is the only way to know when you can expect an answer and when it' s time to do a follow-up if you don't hear anything.

Goodluck!?
