What is Primary? People, Profits or Purpose

Many times in a global organization the profits or the purpose are the primary (although not spoken) passion. People are sent on global assignment with a very basic benefits package but they don't care because they are committed to the cause and often addicted to the lifestyle.

Corporations are committed to their profits while governments and NGO/non-profit organizations are often so committed to their purpose and they both loose sight of their people that make their work possible.

It's all possible through the people that are making it happen. Sure, it takes the money of the power of the leadership but in balance with the care of the people who are sacrificing for the mandate.

Duty of care must do more than provide basic insurance and EAP. Common issues:

  1. Health/medical plan that often has deductibles that are too high for them to use it.
  2. Life insurance that has such a low death benefit that it leaves the family with nothing more than a burial policy.
  3. Crisis response membership that leaves the organization paying for services if they are really needed.
  4. Lack of adequate debriefing; especially for the family of the staff member.

It's time to do more for the people that are passionate about your purpose.

Let's talk soon. I am a consultant for both individual and group programs, able to recommend solutions for crisis response services, insurance and global benefits working with brokerages firms around the world.
