What is Prayer? (LUKE 11:1-13, MATTHEW 6:9-13)

WHAT IS PRAYER?

To define prayer is an easy task to accomplish. However, I will rather describe what prayer is not for our better understanding of what prayer is.

a) Prayer is not talking and talking but without listening and

waiting for a response.

b) Prayer is not a shopping list to be met.

c) Prayer is not lodging complaints.

d) Prayer is not a forced or voluntary exercise - as all men ought

to pray.

e) Prayer is not a bargaining chip for a better advantage.

To summarise all the above, prayer can be defined as effective direct communication with GOD. Therefore, Prayer is receiving from GOD what He has already done or accomplished in Christ. (Eph 6:10-11)

The persons praying are to maintain their stand in the Victory that has already been won by Christ, no matter the lies of the enemies. We ask according to God's Will and from the position of strength and victory and not from the position of weakness and defeat,

This is because Christ - the Son has already won us victory at Calvary by shedding His precious blood to redeem sinners and reconciled them back to GOD - the Father.

Therefore, Prayer is thanking God for our Total Victory, e.g. healing and deliverance; (James 5:13-14); (Isaiah 53:5); Authority over the power of the enemy; (Luke 10:19); Sufficiency or abundance in all things; (Ephesians 1:3),

All we need do is to believe and learn to thank God for Jesus and continue to live in that frame of mind.
