What is ‘Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana’ and how does it ensure water for cultivated land

Nature has provided us with the most valuable resource, water. We are facing an acute water crisis, which we must manage well before it becomes too late. If we cannot understand its importance, then I do not doubt that future wars will be fought over water rather than oil.

?Sounds Scary!

Contrary to appearances, it is scarier.

There was the same amount of fresh water on the planet when the population was only 3% of what it is today. There were no droughts like we are experiencing now, and the situation will deteriorate as demand and pollution increase.

Farmers are the world's biggest consumers of water, and they are aware of the need to conserve it, especially given population growth and climate change. With more frequent and severe droughts and excessive heat, farmers are experiencing severe droughts and excessive heat. By 2050, agriculture will require 19% more water than it does now—a three-fold increase.

?

How can we solve this problem?

?

The only solution is to conserve water. Managing waste is crucial to saving water." Using water wisely to eliminate wasteful water use is known as water conservation. "Fresh, clean water is a scarce resource and expensive, so saving it is crucial." Reducing waste is crucial to saving water."

?

How does our government help in conserving water?

A scheme designed to manage water has been created by the government called Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana.

?Let’s talk about the PMKSY scheme

?Before we discuss the scheme, let’s try to understand the reason for launching the scheme

Unfortunately, rain cannot be forecasted or ordered in advance. We need Monsoon water. Even when monsoon rains are essential for several crops, farmers can no longer rely on wet winters because of our climate's increasingly unpredictable behaviour. Given its reliance on rainfall, unirrigated farming is risky and inefficient.

?

Due to its heavy reliance on rain, unirrigated agriculture is a high-risk, low-yielding industry. Empirical evidence shows that guaranteed or protective irrigation motivates farmers to invest more in farming supplies and tools, increasing output and farm income.

?Launched on July 1st, 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana(PMKSY), with the slogan "Har Khet Ko Paani," aims to increase water efficiency and extend cultivated land with assured irrigation. Using "Jal Sanchay" and "Jal Sinchan," PMKSYconcentrates on creating sources for both protected and assured Irrigation. Incentives are utilised to promote micro-watering and reach the goal of "per drop, more crop."

?PMKSY's primary goals are to promote the use of precision irrigation and other water-saving technologies, achieve irrigation investment convergence at the field level, increase the cultivable area covered by assured irrigation, and enhance on-farm water use efficiency (More crop per drop)

?

There are three components of ‘The Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana’ are as follows

●???????Department of Water Resource

●???????Department of Land resource

●???????Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare

?Under the National Food Security Mission (Oil Seed and Oil Palm), assistance is provided for water-carrying pipes for 50% of the cost, up to a maximum of Rs 15,000 per farmer/beneficiary limited to Rs. 50 per metre from HDPE pipes, Rs. 35 per metre from PVC pipes and Rs. 20 per metre from HDPE laminated oven lay flat tubes to increase the area that can be farmed with dependable irrigation and to increase the physical accessibility of water on the land (Har Khet Ko Pani).
