What to post to Stories - answered

I was running a workshop the other night and an attendee told me she had never been sure how to use 'Stories' for her organisation.

So I thought that was a great topic we could tackle together today.

If you're a nonprofit, a community organisation or impact business - Stories?are a powerful tool to connect with your audience on a personal level, build emotional connections, and drive action.

For those of you who need some clarity - Stories, are those little circles at the top of Instagram and Facebook that show you images and videos that disappear within 24 hours.

Here's some ideas on how to leverage stories to build your brand and inspire your community:

?

Highlight Impact Stories:

Share Stories that showcase the real-life impact your nonprofit or organisation is making.

Put a face to your?organisation by featuring individuals who have benefited from your programs, products or services. Use before-and-after photos, testimonials, or short video clips to illustrate the transformation.

This taps into the old creative writing adage - show don't tell. Don't tell people that you're doing awesome work - show it constantly through little stories shared frequently.?

Take Your Audience Behind-the-Scenes:

Give your followers a glimpse into the inner workings of your?organisations.?

Share snippets of your team meetings, volunteer training sessions, or event preparations. This humanises your organisation and fosters a sense of transparency and trust.

While a lot of organisation's I work with think their day-to-day is boring and there is nothing to share... I guarantee you that you're surrounded by stories that your audience would love to share.?

Embrace User-Generated Content:

Encourage your community to share their own stories related to your cause.

This could be photos, videos, or testimonials about how your nonprofit has touched their lives or pictures from an event. Re-sharing this content amplifies your reach and reinforces your message.

?

Keep it Authentic and Engaging:

Don't be afraid to show your personality and let your passion shine through. Use humour, emotion, and relatable language to connect with your audience.

Keep your stories visually appealing?but low-fi is more than good enough. Done is always better than perfect!

I hope this gives you some inspiration to start using Stories more regularly for your audience.?

As always though, don't forget to take the time first to identify your goals from this strategy, know who your ideal audience is and at the end - take time to track what worked well and what didn't.

Happy posting,

Alecia?
