WHAT IS POLYGON? (MATIC) EXPLAINED

What is Polygon?

Polygon is a blockchain-based platform that aims to disrupt the gaming industry by providing users with an all-inclusive ecosystem of services. Polygon’s platform will allow gamers to play games, sell items and earn tokens. Polygon is a scalable, secure and cost-effective blockchain platform. The Polygon Platform will be the next-generation blockchain platform for businesses to build their own decentralized applications (DApps) on the Polygon Network.

The Polygon Network consists of two main components:

  • The Core Layer – where you can store your data in a secure way; it’s also where your custom consensus rules are defined.
  • The Validation Layer – which validates transactions sent by other nodes within the network and ensures they comply with thematic requirements such as security or privacy settings etc., before they enter into consensus phase 2/3 processes (depending on their type).

Why Go Polygon?

It’s a question every investor asks themselves: “Why go polygon?”

The answer is simple. Polygon is the best blockchain in terms of technology, security and team. It has everything you could want out of a cryptocurrency: fast transactions, low fees and no downtime.

It’s also one of the most advanced networks on Earth right now–and one that will continue to grow as it moves further into its second year!

How Does It Work?

Polygon is a blockchain-based platform for the development of decentralized applications (dApps). The Polygon team has been working on this project since 2017, and it’s currently in alpha testing.

The Polygon platform allows developers to build and deploy dApps on its network without having to worry about the underlying infrastructure or transaction costs. This means that developers will be able to focus their time on creating new products rather than dealing with technical issues such as scalability and security issues.

The EVM for Polygon?

The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) is a Turing complete virtual machine that runs the smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. The EVM has been designed to be able to run any program written in any programming language and needs no external storage (like RAM). It uses an abstract instruction set called Solidity, which allows developers to write their own code without having any prior knowledge of how it works internally.

Tokenomics for Polygon?

The token is called POLY, and it’s an ERC-20 token. The basic supply is 1 billion tokens.

The price of a single Polygon (POLY) will be calculated at the time of purchase using ETH or BTC as base currency.

SIDE NOTE: Before proceeding with the project, make sure to read the whitepaper. The whitepaper is a good place to start and gives you a clear picture of what Polygon is all about. It explains how the project works and its tokenomics, so it’s crucial that you understand them before investing in any ICOs.

I have to say, Polygon is one of the most exciting ICOs that I have seen in a long time. I am excited to see what they can accomplish in their roadmap and future goals!
