What is a Pipe Spool
What is a Pipe Spool
Pipe spool is a section of pipe that comes in pre-fabricated lengths from the pipe fabricator.
A pipe spool refers to a section of a piping system that is prefabricated as smaller segments with flanges and fittings. Pipe spools are often prone to corrosion due to their exposure to the elements, water and other natural electrolytes. Adequate preventative and restorative monitoring must be implemented when maintaining pipe spool applications.
Pipe spools are fabricated using raw pipes and pipe fittings (flanges, elbows, tees, etc.) The raw pipes are cut to predetermined sizes that are compatible with the pipe fittings and other components.
Pipe Spool Fabrication
Pipe spools are fabricated using various types of raw pipes and pipe fittings and they include flanges, elbows, tees, and a lot more. They are usually fabricated offsite. The raw pipes are pre-cut to specific sizes and together with pipe fittings and other components. They are temporarily fitted together. This partially finished sub-assembly is then welded with other spool components.
The pipe spooling process is made up of two main sections:
1.Roll fitting and welding
2.Permanent position fitting and welding
Testing :
1) Hydrau testing
2) Ultrasonic testing for joint
3) DPT For welded joint
4) X ray test for Butt weld joint
5) TPI accepted on client request
