What People Think They Want And What People Actually Need

What People Think They Want And What People Actually Need

In the late 1890’s Henry Ford built and released the first single cylinder internal combustion engine automobile. Ford built the engine in the early 1890’s and in the early 1900’s Ford Motor Company was formed. Imagine the waiting list of people wanting and even demanding this brand-new cutting-edge technology. The reality is almost no one wanted this and most thought it was just another crazy idea.

If you asked the populace back then it was pretty clear they were more interested in faster horses and horses able to could carry more weight over a longer distance. These are many of the same issues the visionaries of today have had to overcome.

When Steve Job’s introduced the I-Pad no one knew they wanted or needed it. When Jeff Bezos started selling books online, he was considered crazy because you could go to Borders or Barnes & Noble and get the book without waiting. Do I need to mention Elon Musk and the ideas he shared with the world? None of these idea’s were what we thought we wanted and we’ve all been deeply influenced by these.

Eight months ago, when I hired my coach at the gym I didn’t want a coach. At one level or another I have been working out in a gym since I was about 12. What I needed was to stop making old man noises when I got up from a chair. I needed to be able to stand on my tippy toes after having last the ability to do that over a decade ago. I needed to stop and reverse some if not most of the effects of my type 2 diabetes. I needed to regain my balance and quit falling down. I needed to lose much of the obesity and age-related issues that have crept up on me in the last two decades that have been left to get worse over time. What are my results?

I’ve gone to the gym between two to four times per week for eight months now. The old man noises are gone. I can easily stand on my tippy toes, my blood sugar is shockingly normal, my balance has increased dramatically and I am ready for whatever is next. I have to remember that I didn’t get what I thought I wanted but I did get what I needed. What are you looking for? Our society has taken most of us to look for what we want while the winners are looking for what they need. Google doctorofharshreality and read what it has to say. They told Bezos he was crazy that’s what they told Job’s, Musk and Ford. Am I crazy? It’s possible. Next time we'll talk about being a disrupter. ??????
