What parents should look for in a youth sports program
U.S. Center for SafeSport
Our vision is that every athlete will be safe, supported, and strengthened through sport.
Sport is a place where our kids can go to learn, grow, and thrive, both physically and emotionally. No matter their age or level, that place should be safe and free of abuse and other misconduct.
With the new school year around the corner, the U.S. Center for SafeSport’s “Parent’s Guide to Misconduct in Sport” online training is a timely resource. It gives parents the knowledge and tools they need to make sure their child has a positive and safe sport experience.
This free, 35-minute course covers:
·??????Aspects of a healthy coach-athlete relationship
·??????Questions to ask your child’s sports coach or activity leader
·??????Practices and policies to look for in a youth sport organization
·??????What to know about sexual abuse and misconduct in sport, as well as other forms of misconduct such as bullying and hazing
·??????How to respond if misconduct occurs
