What paint color are you?

My wife asked me “Can we please get rid of this agreeable grey?" the interior wall color we picked when we built our empty nester house.?We wander through Lowes Home Improvement looking at a million color swatches. I am amazed by the range and depth of colors available.?It got me to thinking about leaders and how they show up on the color chart.

You would think that with all the vibrant choices of colors available we would choose vibrant hues that show our true colors as a person(forgive the pun).?But so many bosses fall into a boring color category, a safe one that blends with everything or they overdo the color palette and give everyone a headache. Here are some examples:

Agreeable Grey- Stark! This boss sits in their office and concurs with all the suggestions, never gets involved and rarely gives an opinion nor a direction.?They blend in with the scenery and offer little in the way of "color" to their folks.

Builders Beige- Boring!?Not dynamic, totally disconnected. You barely even know they exist if it weren’t for the fact they are in the email address book.

Atomic Red- Boom! In your face, ready to go. Loud, proud and gotta get their two cents in on every conversation.

Midnight Black-Doom and gloom! Who wants to be around this sad sack? They suck the light out of every room.

When people think of you as a boss how do you want them to perceive you?

Example-Could you be a tone of Blue.?Per 34 best Blue Paint Colors 2022 “Blue has a range of undertones and ability to?pair seamlessly with other hues. A rich midnight blue evokes a moody, reflective feeling …. while a glossy aquamarine exudes just the right amount of energy?….. Delicate pastel blues are?peaceful and calming.”* ?

Of course, we are having some fun with these color ideas. But I hope people see me as a myriad of colors, tones and textures and not one bland, boring or overly obnoxious one. What color are you?
